4020 farm stock pump and injectors January 04, 2009 08:28AM
i'm looking to pull a couple times a year in farm stock with a '72 jd 4020. I'm using a hyper-formance oh kit and wondering what size roosa master and injectors i should using to be competitive.

For a farmstock class i think you want a 450 roosa master. You could go with a 500 but it isn't loosing the reliability for the little bit of extra fuel. I have a Columbus Diesel 450 for sale that is off of a 5010. The drive is different, but your stock drive should fit right on. It is a good reliable pump. Give me a call. 330-853-3218.

where i pull most guys run a 390 roosa master. i pull personally a 1966 4020 with a 404 w/ M&W pistons, Stock pencil injectors and Stock pump head(310 or 320 i think). Keep in mind i have the pump opened up to 120%. My point being is i am very competitive and you can over fuel. I would look into only going with a 390 versus spending big money on the large pump. There are a lot of tractors around here with 466 and up cubes and like i said i stay very competitive with my small pump. I still dairy farm with the tractor but have been running this pump set up for 4 years.

man a 450 head is like 330cc, thats alot of fuel for a NA tractor. I would look into a 390 like stated above. Also injectors could help alot better atomization means better burn. I know i was running a 312 CI ih a few years ago NA and i was only putting 220 cc to it and it was overfueling it. Good luck!
