Latest Model Tractor Made Into A Puller February 03, 2009 07:15AM
What is the latest model of manufactured tractor that you all know of that has been made in to a puller, meaning taken out of the field and carved up to be a puller...

Re: Latest Model Tractor Made Into A Puller February 03, 2009 07:30AM
I am just guessing but I would have to say a 40series Deere or an 88series I-H, probably some 94series Case those would fall into the early 1980's

Good question 007 February 03, 2009 12:01PM
I think that the old night life of teipens (4450 version which was a bad @$$ pro in my opinion) still had the serial tag in the back that said 4450. It was either there's or Barely gettin bye I can't remember for sure. Did Rodney Shnitkers old Meltdown start out as a 3688? I don't know of any Magnum or newer Deere tractors that have converted.

Re: Good question 007 February 03, 2009 12:28PM
Wilemans had 7810 or 7820 rear ends in the original Diehard and DieHard 2 7820s which is now Boersons Expresses

Re: Good question 007 February 03, 2009 01:43PM
03 or 04 Valtra T190 from Paris, Mo. Not taken out of the field or off the lot but was a salvage tractor, was hooked to a baler that caught fire I belive it had around 100 hrs on it when it caught fire.

Re: Good question 007 February 03, 2009 04:10PM
Thanks Sully... I've been wondering about this for quite awhile and it has to be part of the impetus for the component chassis. With the prevalance of MFWD, the number new models that could even conceivably be converted to a puller has to be dwindling. I think Deere has an 8130 that you could make a puller - IF you could make weight.

Re: Good question 007 February 03, 2009 04:39PM
Not trying to start any red/green/other war here but the 8130 JD only comes with a powershift or IVT transmission and neither will hold up. As for the Case/IH magnum or NH TG they both are powershift and won't hold up either. Would need to go back to 7000 series Deere for PowerQuad or MX Maxxum series for CIH in order to even possibly get one to come close to hold up. Yes I agree it is reason to have a component rear end. For Case tractors would have to go to late '80's for 94 series, Ford/NH would be 8630 series etc. for their transmission to work. Can't answer for MF or White but would also be at least that time frame. I also don't agree with putting newer sheet metal on a tractor that has the old block and/or rear end from an older series. I don't think the 88 series IH transmission/rear end would hold up either. Just my opinion but would like to be proved wrong.

I know there has been some 7000 deeres made into farm stock and hot farm pullers. on youtube there is a few tractors that are together that run across seas. A 4430, 6030 and a 6920S. They claim its a real 6920S not just sheet metal if you look at their website and read about the motor and stuff.

Re: Good question 007, Fendt 936 February 04, 2009 03:41AM
Could it be the new Hurricane from The Netherlands? It's the latest model Fendt 936.

Re: Good question 007, Fendt 936 February 04, 2009 08:09AM
That tractor is a component chassis and I believe it has a MAN motor which has not been used in Fendt tractors for a little while now. Smart Tractor though!

Understood, but if you're running SF/SS/PS, you're running a Profab tranny and Lord knows what in the rear case, so the stock tranny and rear internals would matter.

Ben Booms from Harbor Beach, MI pulls a true Magnum 7140 as a superfarm tractor with the Thumb Tractor Pullers Association. ( www.ttpa.org )
Believe is has a 3 speed trans built inside the original cast housings. The stock rear is all there.

You beat me to it Mark! Wasn't this tractor at Gordyville in the past, I thought that is where I saw it. I think it would be interesting to mess around with a "C" motor.

Yes, 2 years ago I believe he was down there. They announced that it was a true Magnum. Most out there are just another 66 wearing someone else's dress!
