Anyone do anything with the later model 93-96 dt466s ?? I know obviously the head design is different but can any of the parts interchange with the older pre 1993 motors ?? Reason I ask is a can get one for real cheap...almost free. Can I put a old style head on that block ??
Any info is appreciated.

The head gasket will line up and the bolts are roughly the same size, though they are metric. The timing gear setup is different though and the cam turns backwards compared to the older engine. You'll have to keep that in mind if you change the cam.

Not much will interchange. Cylinder head and maybe oil pan. Bolt pattern on back of block and crank is different to. All internal parts are different. Stick to the older IH engine. Parts are cheaper and easier to come by.

Thats what I figured. I knew there had to be a reason no one was running them.
