At what hp point should you start looking into half gears? I currently have a d-21 running a stock bore and stroke 426. It has an A pump and high performance injectors with a 3LM charger. I run 7th high and it does well for what it is but would like to start upgrading the engine and I'm not sure if I'll be needing gears too. It will snuff out on some tracks and spin on others but when it does spin out it's laboring and not over reving blowing the tires off or anything. Future plans include head porting, performance cam, and larger turbo thinking about a s400. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

Mark Gettinger is the man to talk to about allis transmissions.
He can also point you in the right direction for cam grinds also.
