i’m wanting to put a 466 truck engine into a 1066. Is there any visual external differences in the block between the 466 truck engine and the stock 414 don’t want any noticeable differences. thanks for any help

If your 414 is still ok, just move over the crank and pistons, that's it.

External visual differences are the ID stamp and accessories. Like the above poster said, the crank is the only inside difference, swap that and put in a 466 OH kit and you have the factory engine with more insides!

Must match pistons with crank, the rods are the same but the pistons have different wrist pin locations.

It reads 414 or 466 in the serial number stamp on the upper left center of the block.

It is possible that the truck block will have the International truck logo cast in the side of the block instead of the IH logo as well. That is another dead giveaway to the right eyes. The only advantage to the truck block would be roller lifters instead of the flat tappets, but you can get a late tractor block with roller lifters.

Iwill have the crank rods and pistons or the engine this particular one for around 850 was getting water in oil

I have a 466 truck motor for sale that is the big lifter bore according to serial number. needs over hauled but ran when pulled from truck. if this helps you at all id be more than happy to sell it.

Many many years ago I worked for IH so I'm in the know. The truck block is heat treated around the main brg journals & the ag block is not. The truck crank has a higher density of steel in the crank so the truck crank is better & was built for higher rpms.
