Faster planetaries for Ford 8000?? October 22, 2020 10:40AM
Has anyone ever made faster planetary for the Ford 8000 series? I've got a Doc rear end (uses Ford internal planetaries) and am looking for a faster final drive ratio. SQHD ring gear & pinion sets in the 3.55 ratio are getting hard to find, just wondering if anyone has ever made faster planetary gears for this?

don't know if this would help but you can get a 3.42 r&p from a SQ100 and it will work in the sqhd but requires different pinion bearings and front yoke or coupler also the pinion shim has to be about .150 to get pattern and the nose of pinion winds up about 1/4 inch longer but it works

And this would be why the centers should be Merritor 20145.
Decent priced ring and pinions, and decent priced aluminum gear housings.
Ratio's from 2.40ish to 7.20 ish.
