Tire screws June 27, 2016 11:26PM
I have an 1175 case I'm finishing up to pull in hot farm, I was told i would need to put screws threw the rim into the beads of the tire. How many screws do I need in each bead and what kind of screws are people using? Tractor is around that 7-800 hp mark with 20.8x38 radials uncut. Thanks

We run same size tire in similar class. Ran in stainless screw every 3 inch used 1inch length, also added a dab of anti seize just to make them run in easy.

you didn't need any screws at that hp, steel wheels will hold a tire to 1000hp easy

I agree with "Save your your money" unless you have aluminum wheels then you need to put them in.

I think it depends on how good your tire beads are. Mine have been mounted and dismounted a lot, and they were slipping in the rims at way less than 1000 hp. It's a function of rim torque, so what weight you pull at probably makes a difference as much as horsepower.

Just from own experience. We had tires slip ever so slightly on steel rims. 18.4 38 radial firestones. Rim bead ribs were excellent and tires had only been dismounted 1 time and mounted 1 time. Tires would leak down between pulls. Right or wrong we had tubes and the neck had tears in them. Also we marked the rims and tires and would move after running 8500lb class. Not sure on horsepower we were at but ran A pump 3lm 466cid. 3000rpm. We have 20.8s now on Midwest rims we run tubes and have not had a problem with tube necks tearing. Again just our experience. I would put screws in.
