Pulling hitch
|
I'm building a pulling hitch on a Farmall M ( something like from haslaag or ace) that will have a small block V8 in it. Hitch rules are pretty standard, max 20 on high and min 18 in from rear axle centerline. My question is, is there any advantage to where the front of the drawbar attaches to the tractor. As in closer to the rear axle centerline or farther forward . Or doesn't it matter? |

t doesn't make a bit of difference where it attaches, so long as everything is ridged. |

the point that you bolt the hitch on means a lot, leverage and physics plays an important role.some places don't allow a high top link attachment point. |

If the hook point is 20" off the ground and 18" back from center of axle and is SOLID in all directions the way you hold the drawbar itself does not matter at all. The tractor itself is the lever with the axle being your fulcrum. The hitch is not the lever like some people seem to think.. |

most rules state "rigid in all directions" what part of that don't you understand? |

Drawbar angle
|
Most groups have a 15 degree maximum drawbar angle, so the front can be as low as it can and gives you max angle, as far as front to back mounting on front of drawbar that doesn't matter unless it's a trick floating hitch. |
