4440 jd injector questions December 09, 2016 07:04AM
I have a 4440 that I'd like to pull some next year and still farm with it, so my question is what would be a good injector to go with for farm stock class? Around here farm stock isn't farm stock but I'd like to still use mine. Some people have said run 4640 injectors but I wouldn't think that would gain much of any. Thanks!

Keep your stock injectors for farming and a good set for pulling. My 2 cents

Not sure what all you do with your 4440! But we had one with a slightly modified pump with stock injectors. Also had a turbo off of a 4650 or a 8450 not sure. We farmed with it for about two years that way. Just didn't over work it.

I don't do a whole lot, pull a batwing, grain cart and rippers some. What did they do to your pump?

My two cents I would be careful of putting larger pump injectors and turbo on and wanting to do heavy tillage, if you are wanting the tractor
to be able to do all the same jobs with the same reliability as before I would look for a setup that you can remove and install .

I agree with JD diesel on this topic. We did pull a small chisel plow and a six bottom at times. I think the pump had the rack bolt removed and valves cut and we turned it down for farm use. The pump was the only thing modifying the stock John Deere application. But the turbo was off a different JD tractor. That was to help clear the smoke so it didn't look that we had a bigger pump. Injectors would help the performance but it's another expense if you still want to farm. It's nice to be able to turn a screw and go pull or farm! Just the way we did it. I'm sure there are other ways and I'm sure some folks don't agree just trying to help. Good luck!

It's all in how u drive them. All my tractors are pretty hot for farm use. Just because u have the power to pull something 7mph doesnt mean u should. But it's nice having extra power on tap when u need it in the feild. Did cutting the valves in that pump help quite a bit? Never thought of that lol. Thanks

It just gave it enough to know it helped. We also had a pump with bigger pump that was about 350 to 400cc's that was just a bit to much due to the erratic cam in the pump! It would start wet stacking if you were at low rpm's to much.

I know what u mean. I pulled a batwing with my 4430 with nozzles ( don't remember the size but they weren't extremely large) and a 11mm pump for a few days and it was just to much fuel to farm. What kind of power do u think it had with stock injectors and thestocl pump with delivery valves and rack bolt gone?
