Must be a reason all the cool kids are using 8 and 8 plus, 10, and the REALLY cool kids use the 44 amp mag.

MSD doesn't even make an 8 or a 10 ignition anymore... They make several 7's, the 7AL2, 7AL3, and digital 7, then they make an 8 plus. A 7AL3 ore digital 7 put out more than enough energy to fire a NA alcohol engine without any worries of a misfire when used with the proper coil. There is absolutely no reason to ever need a 44 amp mag on one of these engines, save that for the blown alcohol and nitro crowd.

I have personally used both the MSD 8201 and the MSD 8261 for your application without any problems. The 8261 provides a little more voltage and a little more than double the current that the 8201 does and is really the better choice. That being said I have never had an issue with the 8201 either...

Ive had the 6al and 7 al and a ignition made by crane cams on gas engines turning 6000 rpms and couldn't tell any difference And ive ran the 8s on llss tractors and the eletramotive ignitions I like the electrmotiv that's what ive used them on the last two tractors .And I no were two systems are that a friend of mine took off of there two tractors that could be bought worth the money no distributer needed if you was to be interested but like roadgear says the 6al will do everything you need just don't never weld on your tractor without un hooking the battery cables and remove it if you can

You tractor fellers DO understand all the cool kids running the 4x4's with the 650" V-8 engines are twisting above 9000 rpm, right?

I run a 540 cu in Hercules with a cheap 6 cyl Chevy distributor on a diesel converted to gas belt driven off the cam with a cheap digital 6al box at 5000rpm. Don't get carried away buying these high dollar setups on a NA motor
