Oberg oil filter. April 21, 2017 12:53PM
What size Oberg filter do guys use on a IH 466. Also does anyone have a kit to make it bolt on with stock oil pump?

Thanks
Rusty

I would recommend the tall System one it would have as much filter area or more than a 12 inch Oberg if it was took apart and roled out. Ive had a bunch of the others and wouldn't go back you can also get the 45 micron screen are you going to delete the oil cooler ore use it Remember none of them is as good at filtering as the paper filters you already have if they are working for you

Oil cooler is already deleted. Stock filter housing is warped and leaks. So was looking for a upgrade as to getting another out of a junk yard. It's a 510 hot farm

If the stock one was working good for you with no oiling issues the other wouldn't be an upgrade .But the plates not hard to make and I may have a stock one laying around you can have if I do

I just got done plumbing mine. Cooler delete also, I used a Peterson Fluid Systems large remote mount filter head and used a big Wix filter on it. I forget the number filter but it is probably a 3 quart filter.

What's the part# to use system one filter on a ih dt466

Re: Oberg oil filter. April 22, 2017 06:48AM
We offer a universal filter head. Use Donaldson or Cat spin on filters. 4 -16 SAE Ports 2 in and 2 out plus 2 -4 SAE ports in the top for pressure sensors. We have the filter heads in stock. It also has mounting holes on the top and side. Donaldson offers both a paper, and synthetic media. The paper is a more traditional, and the synthetic is a fiber type. Works better if you get a lot of water in your oil. The filters flow up to 45 GPM.

With that tall 12" system 1 filter what micron filter does everyone recommend for 25 50w synthetic oil for a diesel engine?

Re: Oberg oil filter. April 25, 2017 05:59AM
We have used a 40 micron.

I don't see a 40 micron in the 12" filters. There's a 35 or 75

Re: Oberg oil filter. April 28, 2017 01:03AM
I would do the 35. 75 is pretty big. Its been a while, but you could call and ask how many GPM the filter will flow, and match it up to the pump. But I would try to stay at the 35 if you can.
