JD 6030 with High Speed finals (scraper gears) April 29, 2017 12:09AM
I have seen comments in the past about high speed finals and thought others might like to know. We have a 6030 with high speed finals and has a "7-5/8" gear in the 5th spot.This is what was requested 15 yrs ago to Urmston gear.
The engine is out so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to stop the guessing on our final ratio. We jacked the tractor up, put an old clutch plate on the input shaft marked it and the tire and counted the revolutions of the input shaft to 2 turns of the 1 jacked up tire. ( because of differential )

6 th gear 30.6 :1
7th gear 24 : 1
7-5/8 gear 17.25 : 1
8 th gear 15 : 1

The guys that can't quite run 8 th would have 7 th which is slightly slower than stock 8th
Many guys have a 7-1/2 which should be in the 18 to 18.5 area if our 7-5/8 is truly 7-5/8 just guessing.....
5010 and 5020 are different but these finals fit.
We have a complete set of finals too if anyone is interested.
