IH Rear end housings September 15, 2017 11:41AM
What rear end housing has the largest internal dimensions at the differential? 460, 560, 666? Looked for schematics, but haven't found any. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 16, 2017 04:44PM
706 is the largest and lightest of the big frames. Not sure if it's on your list or not.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 17, 2017 01:00PM
I didn't se 706 in the guys list the 666 is the lagest of the three but has the same transmission as the 460 the 560 has the better transmission with the bigger bell housing for a bigger clutch 666 has the better rear

Re: IH Rear end housings September 18, 2017 12:50AM
Will the 560 transmission bolt up to the 666 rearend

Re: IH Rear end housings September 18, 2017 12:16PM
NO

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 04:48AM
We have one 666 that weights 5400 no driver no weights no inner cooler and 3 turbos with 30.5 tires with a 360 block on diesel. The other one weights 5700 same way but has a 400 series motor in it and this one needs to go on a diet....LOL

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 05:55AM
my chassis is 666 and with me on it weights 5850. I weight 270.. I carry 4 full size batteries. So I would guess you could get to 5400 easy.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 06:18AM
Ulmer's alcohol tractor has to weigh around 5200 with him on it and no weights. He had 10-100 lb IH weights on at 6200 lbs and they were all real, I watched him & his father put them on the tractor. He's a 706 rear end & transmission housing.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 06:26AM
I have a 400 series diesel in mine. So I believe a boozer could get down to 5200 easy.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 08:02AM
Are you running a 300 or 400 series engine? I was hoping to be around 5800 with mine but it is 6800. Tube chassis 466 intercooled 24.5 on aluminum.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 21, 2017 11:11AM
400 series motor, no inter cooler. tube frame 30.5. With a little work I could get down another 5600 easy. Just change starter set up so don't need 4 batteries.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 19, 2017 02:39PM
I am running an Atlas 11" clutch in both of our 666's with no trouble. It is the same flywheel and clutch Karl uses on the 560's. 3 disc 11".

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 03:27AM
Thanks 49md,and Lewis. How light are the 656,666,686 getting down to. And is their another rearend the same as the 3 mentioned, like a 504,544

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 04:30AM
I have mine weighing 6800# but i know you can get them lighter. I run 7000 &9000 so i kinda built it on the heavy side.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 20, 2017 09:42AM
The 544 is the same as the 666 the 504 and utility 460 are the same theres several pulling here llss at 6000 pound one with the 400 series engine and one that's had the 706 bull gears and pinion put in the rear of the 666 what class are you shooting for

Re: IH Rear end housings September 21, 2017 01:54PM
Lewis do you think a 300, or 350 rearent and transmission will hold up in the light hot farm class, if you need the rear end and and put a bullet 560 input shaft in? And of course bullet gears.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 21, 2017 11:28PM
Big Joe, Id use a 400-560 rear and transmission for LT Hot farm. My opinion the 300-350 will not handle the torque and possibly crack around the bull pinion brake shafts.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 22, 2017 05:02AM
706 bull and pinion gears in a 666??? i thought the bull gears from a 706 were alot bigger.. maybe im wrong. are they lighter or a different ratio?

Re: IH Rear end housings September 22, 2017 12:17PM
Richard what is the have to do stuff on a 400-560 rear end like billet cross and different input shaft? And who do you get most of it from, or do you stock and sales the parts.

Re: IH Rear end housings September 23, 2017 07:05AM
They are bigger and heavier I don't no about the ratio the guy just wanted them Kennys done the machine work to change it over

Re: IH Rear end housings September 23, 2017 02:24PM
Big Joe. I'm not the expert, but what we do for our 6000 LT Hot Farm class is set the transmissions up for 3 gears. It a splitter setup. I usually use heavy gearing, billet input shaft with needle assembly, also run needle assembly In the hog head with pressure lube. Requires some machine work for it all too work. I sell a kit that we use for our class. You'll be fine on weight for a 6000lb class using a 400-560 rear. Good luck with your project

Re: IH Rear end housings September 25, 2017 01:40AM
why would a 706 bull and pinion be desired in the 666 rearend

Re: IH Rear end housings September 26, 2017 07:34PM
Could you make a m Farmall rear end and transmission work if you made a diff input shaft or is the transmission not strong enough
