IH466 oil pressure October 11, 2018 07:25AM
Hi, I heard some people run 100-120 psi oil pressure. I run between 60-70 psi with the large truck oil pump. Rpm hits 4000-4500rpm, there is any advantage to bump up the pressure ? Is it doable with the stock regulator?

Thanks

IF it aint broke dont fix it if your not having any problems leave it alone and it is doable with the stock regulator

I’m running up to 145 cold with belt driven pump. I was seeing 130 with the large truck oil pump. Change the spring and regulator body and it will bump your pressure.

Where do you get this setup or what spring and body to you use?

Call McCormick Diesel. Nick has the spring on hand.

My tractor has run for years at 60 to 70lbs. 4 gallons of 15-40 with 1 gallon of Lucas every oil change. You can bump the pressure if you need it by taking the regulator out and shimmying the spring with an old injector washer, preferably a thin one. But 60 to 70 if enough
