Ford 474 engine help December 16, 2018 05:17AM
We're running a ford 474 engine in our ford hot farm tractor, next year we are changing classes and so our new engine limit is 1 turbo but 510cu in. Can anyone suggest a supplier or someone to help upgrade our engine. There is currently a harts fuel injection setup with a harts 3x3 turbo, water injection and all the such likes on it. Would just like to get more horses out of it, was dynoed with its current setup at 1600hp.

Thanks

With 1600 horse out of a 3x3 474 cube you are probably not going to get many comments who ever got that 1600 horses you better stick with

I agree 1600 sounds like a big number I would keep riding that horse

Dynos don't lie,--- people do.,show big number,charge more,real math

I’m not saying anyone is lying if mine made that I wouldn’t be changing anything

Thanks for the feedback, I agree there's nothing wrong with what the engines doing now, just that the rest of the class claim to be well over 2000hp running 4.5" turbos. I know it's not as simple as just putting a bigger turbo up on top as I suspect I'll be picking bits of the track

Are you jumping into supersport or prostock?

Re: Ford 474 engine help December 17, 2018 06:02AM
jumping headfirst into prostock

Re: Ford 474 engine help December 17, 2018 06:19AM
search facebook for Snoopy pulling team and Wickie Power pulling team, you should be able to message or get contact info for them. Both run prostock and should be able to help you out. Hope this helps

Jamie, I think you should talk to Bredahl Brothers Pulling Team - They have been doing great with their Ford engined Pro Stock puller.

Hope this helps you out.

prostock, with a ford motor ??.never gonna happen in that class, unless your in Europe.....their more than likely way over 2000 hp,even with the 510 cuin limit

Re: Ford 474 engine help December 18, 2018 05:22AM
His bio says he's from Europe.

Some people are very narrow minded.......think there is nowhere else in the world that pulls a class called pro stock.

I would call Brent @ GMS in Ohio 513-756-9900 he has experience with the Ford engine and that class.

You need to up the cubic inch, if everyone else is running 510 then you need to be there too. Up the bore size and stick with the 5.2" crank is the simplest way. You must be running that 3x3 turbo on its limit, so you will need to go to 4.6" and upwards if you want to get anywhere near the top of that class, plus intercooler and sigma plus a whole lot else!

Simplest way at the minute though is just upgrade the turbo, or fit an intercooler. I would speak to Wickie Power or Snoopy on Facebook, both teams can help you out a bunch.
