Case 504 More Cubes January 21, 2019 06:04AM
Hey guys, looking for information on how to put a larger piston in the Case 504 engine.

Class doesn't have cubic inch limits - would like to take advantage of the 5" stroke and put a bigger piston in the engine to try to get it closer to the 6030/619 pullers.

Has anyone changed the sleeves/pistons for another set? How much boring can be done to the block without compromising anything?

Not looking to stroke the crank at this time.

Any knowledge shared is appreciated!!

Thanks!

do the bore and stroke, cam and pump,or else all is wasted, just cubes doesn't do it.cheaper in the long run to make it stout first time around.Stroke makes a BIG difference.Buddy of mine does the Cases, send number will share some info.

How much you want to spend? With cubes need better everything, pump, turbo, injectors, heads
50,000 be a rough estimate

I believe 5" pistons on factory crank gets you to 588. Stroke crank can get 640 with 5".

Pump, turbo, injectors were already tried... didn't get it done. Now looking at other options.

What sleeves/pistons combo are used for 5''?? Or do you have to have some made by Ross or another company?

Go with a 6" stroke, block will need light clearancing and some on camshaft but best gain per dollar. just that puts you at 600 cubes. Then it you go to a 4 3/4 piston with a good liner you dont need any boring done in the block that combination yields 640 cubes. perfect setup for 3-3500 rpm. You can run open rpm but will need a billet crank for that.

So there isn't a good option for just drop in / light machine work "big bore" kit?

Can you hone the factory 504 liner from 4.625 to 4.75" or do you have to use a different liner altogether?

Re: Case 504 More Cubes January 24, 2019 07:04AM
The factory liners arent very strong to start with. Go with a good liner like powerbore for 4 3/4

Re: Case 504 More Cubes January 24, 2019 03:21AM
Is there a pump and turbo limit? Can you run an intercooler? How about an rpm limit?

Re: Case 504 More Cubes January 24, 2019 04:35AM
No limit really. 3000RPM "farm stock" - non cut tires. Factory cooler is fine.

"Case", Look at the Case 2870 Saab-Scania engine specs, which is close in bore, stroke & cubes that you want. However, does it flywheel pattern allow bolting right into the 504 clutch housing pattern? And if it does, is that a legal motor for your class?
