IH rebuild kits February 09, 2019 11:30PM
Hi new at this sport, going to rebuild a motor.A 466 complete rebuild kit is about $1000-1300,
I have seen 498 and 505 and 510 kits also for a good bit more moneywith cast pistons I understand they might have better sleeves.I’m going to run a p-pump
I bought a 2.8x3 Hart’s charger 3000 rpm hyper cam and a used Harry’s head,going to run 3000 rpm most
May run a few open rpm pulls.9500lbs-11500 weight class My question is it worth spending the extra money on the extra cid,
And what should a expect out of the larger cid hp and torque wise. What bearing should I think about.Thank you.

If you have a standard crank you should get the Clevite coated H bearings. My suggestion is to call all of the engine builders and see which one has the best 510 kit. Will be a very noticeable difference from the 466.
