Pulling on a Cinder Track February 19, 2019 01:48PM
Might seem like a no brainer but looking for opinions to help get prepared

Have a Pull coming up this summer on a cinder track. Currently run Firestone Radial Double Cuts at 12.5 - 13 pounds. Pull at 6500 pounds. That’s typical set up on a dirt track.

What changes would you make for this event? Air pressure? Just weight? Different gear? A combination of these? Change tires (Have a set of full cut biased at our disposal)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks all!

I'd try and lower the air pressure at least a couple of pounds.

Is there any benefit to going from the double cut radials to the full cut biased or would that be going the wrong direction?

double cuts need to be turned fast.

Depending on how nice of a set of tires you have, you might use some older worn tires. Cinder tracks will take the edge right off the tire.
