3000rpm 504 case 13mm and a 66mm turbo how much water and where should the nozzles be ? Have heard more smaller in better then less big? Should one go pre turbo or would that slow down the wheel too much with the rpm limit? What type of pump and when should it come on?

30 to 35 oz in 15 seconds would be a good starting point. Inject water into the crossover pipe between turbo and intake manifold. At least 2 nozzles , I recommend enderle type. Electric snow plow hydraulic pumps work well for this application. Best wishes!

I almost forgot, I would try to bring on water at around 25 to 30 psi boost for starters. Good Luck.

Re: water injection August 04, 2020 06:10AM
Thanks for reply - What psi does the water pump need to be?

Re: water injection August 04, 2020 06:59AM
1000psi set 15 to 20 psi 30 to 40 ounces 20sec run

Re: water injection August 10, 2020 07:31AM
What’s the reasoning for such high psi? Would a 250-300psi electric pump not atomize the water enough? What do you think about pre turbo? Any help is appreciated.

Re: water injection August 10, 2020 08:31AM
High psi is best. 250-300 is not worth doing.

After turbo not before

One thing that you have to overcome with water pressure is the manifold pressure. If your water pump is 250 psi and the manifold has 50 psi your real water pressure going into the manifold is 200 psi. This is not enough for a proper for atomization to happen. When you faze change water from a solid (ice) to a liquid and from liquid to a vapor you have the largest temperature change possible. What you are after is a very fine water fog so the faze change to vapor (steam) is almost instant. Remember that the air water in the intake is only there for a very very short time at high rpms. Small nozzles and high water pressure works best.

2x on high pressure i am running close to 2000 psi to help atomize the water. Smaller droplets are easier to turn to steam.

What pump are you using to achieve this type of pressure?

Re: water injection August 12, 2020 08:50AM
Vickers (sp) belt driven. I agree Max Simpson would be whom i would work with.

Re: water injection August 11, 2020 02:02PM
The reason for high psi is you want fog not rain. I don’t think you need any in front of the turbo at 3000 . Put your nozzles in right after the turbo so the water has time to mix and vaporize. Longer cross over pipe the better

Re: water injection August 12, 2020 03:01AM
Might as well just run a hose to the intake pipe if your going to run enderle nozzles. Atomize about the same.

well what do you prefer, butch?

Simpson Performance ( Max). 517-543-3467

Re: water injection August 12, 2020 03:41AM
Do I need to mix some type of lube in with the water if using a snow plow pump?

Re: water injection August 12, 2020 07:23AM
Make one call Max has forgot more about water injection than most people know. Do it right once and forget it!

By far the best atomizimg nozzles that I have found I got from this guy. Can't remember his name, but his number is 715-773-2697.

Should probably add some gas to the water bud, heard she werks great. Smoking
