CAT BOLTS vs STUDS September 25, 2020 04:34AM
Hey guys building a new IH 466 3000 rpm should be right around 850 hp I’ve heard a lot of guys using the CAT head bolts but also know a few guys using head studs is there any advantage to head studs over bolts I know studs are more money but if there’s a lot of advantage to them I’d rather do it once and not have to worry thanks for the info

Don’t waste your money, stock bolt are good for 1100hp plus

Agreed with dairy blend. If you end up deciding you have to have something else go with studs. Extreme studs is an economic alternative if you go that route

We make and sell custom studs for engine builders. At 3000RPM and 850 HP, stock bolts are plenty good. Just do a retorque after warming it up.
