Just toying with an idea, will a 4000 chassis hold up to a farm stock 7000lb?? Power will be a 268 (from 7710) w/9.5 simms & turbo. Thanks!

We used a 4000 in an econo mod tractor with about 750 HP. It worked ok except we had to run high gear in the transmission and we broke the gears after about 2 years. We took out the tractor transmission and just ran the rear and it worked great. I don't have a clue what HP you are expecting or what gear you plan to run but I'd say if to run a lower gear you should be good. We ran 750 HP and a lot of RPM and the high gear in that transmission has a very small gear and a very large gear and it just ate up the small gear.

We started out with a 4000 trans and rear behind a 304 4-cyl. Not sure what our HP number was, but we tore 7th gear out of it twice...and after the second time we went with a 5000 trans and rear and haven’t had an issue since (10+ years). The rear end will hold up fine but the trans is a bit weak for a pulling application, in my opinion.

Thanks much for the input! I doubt this would even hit 200 hp. Does the 4000 rear bolt directly to a 5000 trans?

No it doesn’t, you would have to use the 5 trans and rear
