Placing will be determined by combined distances for both night.
Bungart sleds will be used. Backup sled will be onsite.
Pullers will have to pass safety inspection.
PPL Tech Officials and Workers
$500 non-refundable "entry fee"

Invites/Fan Voting
Top pullers from NTPA, PPL, Outlaws for each class will be invited.
Pullers will have till a certain day to accept invite or the spot goes to fan voting.
Minimum of 2 pullers in most classes will be voted in by the fans.
Two rounds of fan voting will take place to determine the remaining spots.
There will be a reserve list of pullers for each class.

Payout
Guaranteed $50,000 in purse money
100% of gate will go into purse after intial $50,000
100% of live stream will go into purse
ALL "entry fees" will go back into the purse
ALL extra money from sponsorships and vendors will go into the payout after covering fixed costs
Full payout will be posted once finalized.

If this isn't the best idea to announced for tractor pulling in recent memory I don't know what it. Is it guaranteed to work? No. (Although I believe it most certainly will). There shouldn't be a negative comment to come out of this announcement. This is fun, its competitive, it benefits the pullers.

A couple weeks ago I proposed a pull like this not knowing it was in the works and was accused of being an organizer for the event. I am not in any way associated with this event but am a huge fan of what they have planned!

Two exciting announcements in the past week regarding top notch pulls! I'm definitely looking forward to this and am curious who is going to be on the ballot to cast my vote. This is just up the road about an hour from wife's family. I guess we need to get on their calendar for a visit.

NFMS rules seem to be the best way to do this and allow the most possible participation from all organizations. At least for the Modified class. Can't wait to see who gets invited and accepts and who is put on the fan ballot. Will the ballot be on their facebook site? Anybody know

Like Charles said we will have a list out starting January 3rd. Each class will have at least 2 pullers that will be fan voted initially. We will send out the initial invites to the top point pullers in each class for the three major associations and are giving them until December 31st to commit to the pull. Say we send out 10 invited for one class and get 5 to commit, we now have 7 open spots to fill the class out to 12. In that case we have increased the number of fan voted pullers from 2 to 7 for that class.

Here is the schedule for invites and fan voting:
Initial Invites (Top in Points) - November 1st -> December 31st by 11:59PM (CST)
Round 1 of Fan Voting - January 3rd -> January 16th at 11:59 PM (CST)
Round 2 of Fan Voting - January 24th -> February 13th at 11:59 PM (CST)
Class Invites will be announced February 14th on Let's Grow Pulling
Final List of Pullers will be posted by April 1st (Tentatively)

The two rounds of fan voting will look like this:
Round 1 - Will be from a list of all pullers who competed in that class in 2021.
Round 2 - Will be from the top 20 pullers in that class from the 1st round of fan voting.
Top X amount of pullers in the 2nd round of fan voting will fill out the rest of the class.

How will invites be done for multi-vehicle teams? If 1 driver has the possibility to drive 3/4/5 vehicles in a class, will it be limited to the puller and 1 vehicle or can that driver enter all the vehicles and pilot them in 1 class?

Brent and CP, seriously guys this is an incredible idea. Well done! Good luck to you and the rest of your team with the planning and organizing of this event! This type of event is exactly what the sport needed. It's also a good way to draw attention to the sport in January/February when there wouldn't generally be anything pulling related happening.

Side note if you need another announcer I'd love to get my career started!

Love that we are using NFMS rules. That should be the gold standard for all independent pulls (and maybe even tractor pulling in general). That being said if we adopt a bit of an NFMS mindset and look at this as a truly independent pull I am surprised to see a couple names left off the invite list (even if we anticipated they would have declined the invite).

DSS- Steve and Stan Blagrave. Multiple time BG ring winners, NTPA points championship winners, NFMS winners. Pretty much synonymous with Diesel Super Stock pulling. Ditto everything for Esdon Lehn.
Modified- Corzine. He won the last NFMS modified pull. Also anyone who watched top tier pulling this year saw a really interesting narrative with that tractor. It ran, and by ran I mean dominated nearly all 3 classes of modifieds in NTPA this year. Built as a light unlimited, strapped a 3rd motor on to run modifieds, then put screw blowers on just 3 engines and grabbed top 3 finishes in Unlimiteds at Super National pulls. When was the last time you saw any vehicle run 3 classes?
Light Supers- Witworths. What a huge leap forward for those guys in 2021.

The only other thing that tempts me to read between the lines with this pull is a traditional PPL sled, and then a PPL tech and officiating crew. What if we had a blended officiating crew, or even an "all-star" crew? Take the most popular or longest tenured track officials from all 3 organizations and let them all work.

Great idea. Independent pulling is a cool concept. Just some feedback thoughts.

I see where the comments and questions come from but I'm going to answer for them. Neither Esdon Lehn or the Blagraves finished in the top 5 in the SSD class. And while Corzine ran several different classes and was always competitive he was not a top points finisher in the mod class or the unlimiteds. Thus he didn't get an invite. The way these invites are done takes the debate out of it. Finish in the top however many in the points and you get an invite. But maybe all of the above mentioned guys get in on fan vote

As for staffing and sleds, this is the first time. We're using resources in Southern Illinois with an established relationship with The Track at Holzhauers. They know the place, how things flow, how the track will behave, etc. We did discuss exactly what was mentioned, but for a first effort, feet on the ground experience is an asset we couldn't ignore. We even said as much on the show Monday night when unveiling this that if the show were somewhere in Ohio for example, then you'd probably see a very heavy NTPA presence instead and for the same reason. Ultimately, every dollar of expense we can save by not messing up, is another dollar for the pullers. "It's their money" is our mindset.

Don't be so sure. You're forgetting about weight. Look what Steve Bollinger has done in unlimited this past season by having movable weight only running 3 engines. And all these guys have the necessary parts to run basically any settup these days so one switching from big to small blowers etc isn't really a big deal for most.

The bigger issue I see is the time of year for the event.

We know that there will be pullers that aren't going to be able to make it due to the time of year. That's why they have the option to accept or deny the invite. We will move on to the next pullers until the class is full.

As far as NFMS going to the mod rules they did it's due to the sleds having a hard time stopping the higher overdrive mods in such a short distance. Our reasoning for having the NFMS mods rules was to allow PPL competitors to easily switch overdrive to compete against the NTPA mods. We didn't feel like they would have a fair fight against the NTPA Unlimiteds. We know some can compete with them, but this way has a more even playing field.

There are some classes that just aren't standard across the 3 associations and the Mods/Unlimited would be one of them. To me going with the rules the way you've chosen makes the most sense. It wouldn't be that hard for any of the Unlimited guys to change up configuration and run the mod class.

As far as choosing a team of officials and a sled operators....does it really matter who does it? It's an unsanctioned event plain and simple.

This rule may be a moving target. I am hearing rumblings of a change coming that may affect both PPL and NFMS. It isn't set in stone. We will follow wherever they go seeing as we are 6 months away from the show.

Go see the post by Bryan Lively for the 2020 NFMS the rule for the mods was changed to "Note change to (3) 14-71 overdrive made in original post from 45% to 70%."
I'm guessing the rules put out with the application for this year is a mistake also, but we'll see.

Correct, they are the invites. The current invites need to accept and pay their entry fee by the end of 2021. If they don't that spot will be opened up for van voting which starts in January.

I agree with that statement I go to a lot of OUTLAW PULLS me personally I think Matt Goodwin and Doug Messinger should get an invite and Roger Peterson with "just another one" should be on the list also. But at the end of the day some guys might choose not to travel that far. As far as the the pull in general awesome idea kudos to everybody involved and all of the hard work involved in putting it on!! One helluva idea I love it!!!!!!

If you want to have a pull named "the pullers championship" you would sure think youd have all of the gn classes before you'd have 8500 limited pro. To me this pull just seems like a regional pull thats trying to get gn classes for little cost. Not a bad idea but in my mind it wont be considered a outdoor version of Louisville like what people are trying to make it sound like.

Trying to get GN classes at little cost? What? This is a non sanctioned event and the main promoter for the event wants the 85 and 95 Limited Pros. He’s the reason we are able to have this event so we are going to please him with that. There originally were two “GN” classes that were going to be there instead.

We will plan to keep the application open for a while but plan to have a cap on how many media credentials we'll be giving out. It's not a first come first serve basis, but based on experience and quality of work. You will eventually get an email whether you have been accepted or denied. If accepted, you will be put on the media list and will have credentials to pick up the day of the event.

Introducing the first Super Semi that has committed to hit The Track at Holzhauers May 13th and 14th! "The Executioner" will try to execute the competition with Craig Braun out of Hampton, Minnesota behind the wheel. This semi may look familiar as you may have seen Jack Kielmeyer make it famous at Bowling Green in 2016. The Braun Turf Motor Sports Team purchased the semi between the 2019 and 2020 season and has put the competition on notice!

85 Limited Pro was a class that Brad Holzhauer wanted so we made it happen. Without him this event isn’t possible. We decided to let him choose who he wanted there and gave him a list of all the tractors that pulled in 2021 and he came up with the list. It’s been out since day one that this class was promoters choice and that no fan voting would take place for it.

The "Twisted Kitty" Super Semi got a new power plant for 2021 and proved to be a top contender! After taking first in Tomah and a pair of thirds in Bowling Green, Rusty Bagley decided to sell the truck. None other than Gene Dunn bought it and finished off the OSTPA season with another pair of wins! We are excited to see what the five-time world champion and 27-time national champion arm wrestler can do on May 13th and 14th at The Track at Holzhauers!

We have been busy reaching out to pullers over the last week, and me being out of town for the last few days, I haven't been able to get them posted. Everything has been posted to Facebook and you could have seen everything there. I just updated the post on here now if you want to see. No, this event isn't "petering out", it takes a lot of work to do something like this. Also, if you think you have to be in the "click" as you call it to pull, then better take a hard look at these lists.

I'm not directly involved in this event, but the amount of planning and legwork has to be immense. Just take the task of contacting and actually getting a response from well over 100 different pullers. Then uploading all of that information to the internet, and that is just one piece of the puzzle.

Any info for the pull can be found in two places mainly. thepullerschampionship.com is where you can go for the fan vote link and finding out any info you need about the pull as well as who has already committed, sponsor info, event info...... We also post updates on the pullerschampionship facebook page.
