5500 super stock vs LLSS November 08, 2021 10:48PM
This video is a prime example of why LLSS should be at NFMS. The 5500 super stock use to be a major hit, it was a class where you seen tractors pull in that couldn't pull in the heavier classes like a 180 allis, 88 oliver, 560 and 686 ih and many many more. Yeah they dont put out nearly as much power as a lss but as long as the sled is setup correctly they can put on a great show with lots of color. LLSS is todays version of the 5500 super stock and it deserves to be at the super bowl of tractor pulling.

Today's LLSS make as much horsepower as the Light Supers did back in the late 80s and early 90s, i agree they deserve there recognition as one of the best true tractor classes that is wildly popular and should remain a true light class.Back then it was 5500lbs, now its 6000 or 6200 depending on what organization, i personally like 6000, with better tires nowdays an performance increases it makes it harder on the driveline--- AND NO WE DONT NEED COMPONENTS, just need to keep the weight down, just my opinion !

I owned the WD45 that Denny and Harold ( Volland & Lucas ) had, yes it was a crowd pleaser ( it was ahead of its time here in Ky ) unfortunately it burned in a barn fire an was completely destroyed, thats where i got my start, Harold helped me alot in the beginning, now i run a 180 Allis on alcohol that was previously named " the nemesis ". And still run the 301.

Heck llss make more than lss back then. And even though I have a component, I am not going to tell you that your class needs them.

Another tractor that was a crowd pleaser was Dennis Lucas WD-45 Allis. He and Harold Volland (Oliver 88) were strong runners.

Dave Chrisman ran an Allis 180 for several years. It sold to someone out west. A few years ago Ron Mitchell found it and brought is back to Indiana. It is now running on alcohol. I think he pulls mainly with PPL. Ron grew up with Dave's boys.
