360 cu in motors June 29, 2022 12:30PM
Wondering what motors can be made to compete with the cummins an ih. Just looking to be different than what everybody else in my are run. Didn't know about ford 4cyl or the 4cyl version of the 504 case or 354 Perkins or jd 359 or if there's others.

I am in the planning stage for a Ford 300. 310 inches or so will be about it but I think it will make up for it in rpm.

lol nice try and good idea, however rules state it must have an oem head. i applaud being different tho.
but in todays world pistons and sleeves can be made into whatever size you can dream up to fit your limitations and most clubs allow decubing which you just need to find the stroke and do a little math to make it 360.

Why screw with the DNA of the engine. Ford Cleveland heads have been made to work for many many years and generate great performance!

Would they be in llss? That’s what I’ll be building for but wasn’t sure if the cut and welded head would be allowed.

There's a couple Cockshutts with Hercules engines here in MI that can run with just about anyone.

We’ve got a very competitive Perkins. Will run with just about any 5.9 or DT360 here in Illinois.

Deutz if they don’t outlaw you before you finish the build

Theres a hard running 5000 Ford 4 cylinder at 3000 rpms in Missouri that's competitive in the 6000 Pro Field against the 6 cylinder tractors...I assume that its a 304 that's been made a little bigger..

Re: 360 cu in motors June 30, 2022 02:15PM
Ford motorsport V6 heads like they used to run in Busch series have the same bore spacing as a 300 ford. Bolt those suckers on there. I have a block with 4.25 sleeves welded on it if that will help ya. Think I still have a couple forged steel cranks. But I hate to tell you that a 300 ford bottom end will not hold up in a hard running LLSS without spending a ton of money building a bed plate for it. There’s just not enough meat in those blocks. Even the SVO 300 blocks aren’t gonna hold 1500+ HP.

You cant cut and weld heads back together in the llss class or not supPose to LOL

Re: 360 cu in motors July 02, 2022 12:26AM
This is just another attempt to subvert the rules and ruin a reasonably affordable class
