Floating front axle November 13, 2024 11:17PM
Was watching pro stocks on you tube. Why does some tractors have floating front axles and others are ridged? What would be the advantage to both?

No advantage to either one, OP, it's an air ride front-end your referring to, some are air, some are springs, all it does is cushion the front and keeps from breaking the front-end if it comes down hard after a rough ride.

It does more than that....watch how the suspension works on one with and one without, especially watch the rear tires and how they react. You should notice the difference.

Yep, the rear tires don’t unload as badly when the front end bounces with a suspended front axle.
