Floating front axle

Was watching pro stocks on you tube. Why does some tractors have floating front axles and others are ridged? What would be the advantage to both? |

No advantage to either one, OP, it's an air ride front-end your referring to, some are air, some are springs, all it does is cushion the front and keeps from breaking the front-end if it comes down hard after a rough ride. |

It does more than that....watch how the suspension works on one with and one without, especially watch the rear tires and how they react. You should notice the difference. |

Yep, the rear tires don’t unload as badly when the front end bounces with a suspended front axle. |
