No rainout dates for Hutch? June 05, 2025 01:17AM
With the forecast looking iffy this weekend (especially for Saturday night's session), I was wondering if anyone knew why they couldn't have rainout dates scheduled for noon the following days? I've noticed this for the big pull in Farley next weekend, and even the R3 pull in Ellsworth this Saturday, where if they get rained out, the session is to be held at noon on Sunday. I'd love it if they could get both sessions in this weekend, and I know I would be willing to stick around Sunday afternoon if I had to. Thought I would see if anyone knew maybe why they might not be able to do that for Hutch.

You usually don't get as big of a crowd on a Sunday noon rain date. Ellsworth did use their rain date two years ago and had probably half the crowd they normally do. This hurts how much money you are bringing in which in turn could leave the event losing money or not getting where they need to be able to continue the size of show they currently have. This could cause an event to not come back or have to cut down the show size to be able to pay for the following year's show.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks! I was thinking of it from the perspective of needing to get those hooks in for GN points purposes, but I can definitely see how when the sport is so dependent on ticket sales (as opposed to something like NASCAR, which has all of that broadcast/sponsor money), that it might be better to cancel the show than go in the hole due to low attendance. I'm guessing for Farley, because of the huge buy-in from the pullers themselves, low ticket sales on a rainout date may not have as much of an effect. Just a guess, anyway.
