Congratulations to Simon's on a great event.
|
Congratulations to the Simon's for putting in a great show tonight. Hopefully promoters will take notes and put on more events like this in the future. 5 to 10 events like this a year would be awesome. The track crew did an amazing job on the track tonight. The track was great from start to finish. The format of split field qualifiers with a finals is how it should be done. Fast pace with great iron from top to bottom. Excited to see the next 2 nights. I'm watching on the live stream so can't speak for the people who were there but the show last night moved so fast! The track seemed to be consistent all night. Just an incredible show! Excited for two more nights of this awesome pull! |

Yes it was a top notch event the entire Simon family should be proud of! From the time we pulled in with our hauler to the time we pulled out everything was just great! The facilities, organization, parking, tech, food and track were awesome. Our entire team would like to thank everyone involved for making this event incredible! |

Be nice if someway the announcers could be heard on an app,or radio channel like some dirt tracks are.id sure like being on the grounds walking listening thru ear buds or headphones during the entire event. |

Let''s do this as the Good, Bad, and What If.
The Good: I was there Thursday and Saturday nights. The on-track performance was great. Great competition. Fun to watch. Fast paced. An absolute blast to watch. I felt the food was decent and reasonably priced. One of the best shows I have ever seen. I really like the class sizes. And the idea of qualifying Thursday and Friday, and then finals on Saturday is something I have been wanting for a long time. The Bad: The PA system. I was in the pits both nights. You could not here anything if you stood mid track. Yes the big screen was there, but it was hard to read while standing there. I also think some distance boards would be nice. If not, a couple more big screens. I get this takes money and probably can't happen overnight. I also wish there was more driver interaction with the fans. When those guys one Saturday night, get them into the stands to interact with the crowd. It sounds so simple, but have them do something, like sign a checkered flag or a shirt and give it to a kid. Make them a celebrity for the night. And somehow, you have to have to get the fans close to the tractors/trucks. I don't know if you can do a pit party or something like that. But get people closer. The What If: RJ somehow had the nicest weather I have ever seen at a pull. It was absolutely beautiful weather. What if it would have poured rain 1 or 2 of the nights. Can it still work? And how much rain can the infield handle there? I know RJ was going to do everything he could to make it work, but mother nature could really mess with this and all these puller need to head home at some point. You can only ask them to stay so long. And my bigger concern, is this a new trend you are about to see. Are you going to see a bunch of big entry fee/big payout pulls start to pop up? I am not saying it would necessarily be a bad thing. But how many could happen before it comes an issue? Before we seeing competing dates? Before guys say I can only do one of them a year and have to choose one to go to? Just a thought. Overall, had a great time. and plan on going back again. |

I was there all three nights and overall I agree with you. It was a great show. The one complaint I have is that the PA was not loud enough. I sat in a couple different spots and I could not hear the announcer in either placed once an engine started. |

I'm about tired of hearing that the only complaint after every pull is the PA system. Could be at NFMS or this pull or wherever, same story. No one can talk over that much background noise, and if they do have time to talk, same people would bitch show was too slow. |

Nobody cares what you're tired of. This is a pulling discussion forum, guess what we are gonna do: DISCUSS PULLING ON THE FORUM. If the PA systems suck everywhere (they do) maybe that should lead to change. Holzhaurs in Nashville Illinois would be the people to call to find out how to get a good PA system for pulling. Its not too loud, not too quiet, you can hear it from the moment you get off the highway to the furthest part of the pits. They had issues and tried different things and different systems for several years as they built their venue up until about 2 years ago when they got an all new one and its the best PA system at any track I've ever been to and 2nd place is probably BG and it isn't even close, if you're not in the stands there you cant hear @#$%&. In a perfect world RJ would help Brad with his track and Brad would help RJ with his PA system lol |

My local dirt track broadcast the pa system over a radio channel.i can pick it up with my phone and wear ear buds or headphones,I see lots of people doing this, because you just can't follow over the car noise.i can pick it up in the camping area, and parking area, but not much farther away.i can see pulling benefiting from this.it solves all pa system issues at 1 time, and would be a good way for pullers and fans to be informed. Its broadcast over a radio channel |

I was there all weekend. As far as getting the fans closer, the pits were wide open and free every day. All you needed to do was show up, park and go walk around. It was a heck of a display. Pit passes were not needed until you entered the infield of the track. Hats off to Simons on a great event!! |

To Oly, yes the pits are open. But if average person went 60 minutes before the show to look at everything, a lot of vehicles would have already been in the infield. Also, you have to let people know that they can go look. You also have to understand that if you parked in the parking area, you had to walk around the whole track to get to the end of the pits. That's a heck of a walk. I did it multiple times this past weekend. All I am saying is to somehow gets the fans closer to the pullers. |
