I wrote an article about changing the BG show and you would think I had advocated burning the flag,, don't mess with BG, what are you crazy,,,,. Well what show would you be willing to see try my format happen? The answer is none, not one. I remember when the NMFS changed to order of the trophy presentation from presenting the awards from 3 then 2 then 1st, just like every other sporting event in the known world, to 3rd 2nd and then 1st, people said why change it. Pulling is 1970 technology, 1970 rules and the same show since 1970. I just saw a couple posts about '' more money, more advertisers, you would think that the NTPA had never done that. The NTPA, PPL and Outlaws have reached out to every type of sponsor they can think of, yet when the IHRA/PPL comes in with a Fendt High Stakes Series then we spent hours trashing them. I talked with a puller that has 2 in the series and they told me that if they finish last in every events in the series their loss will $2000. Yet we complain. We want the sport to grow but don"t change anything. Well guess what, it's been the same show for 50+ years. Sure the vehicles look a little different but they all go about the same speed down the track, the same distances, and the same names. We want the sport to grow, however don"t you dare change anything. This is not about my article about changing the BG format, or how many thumps down I got, it's about wanting one thing and not willing to try anything. And I will ease your minds, I'm pretty sure that BG will not change their show because I wrote something. In ten years pulling will be the same and people will be saying " we need to grow the sport". Social media, pod casts, in themselves are great for the fans that the sport has, but we are still selling the same product year after year. People talk about the "good old days " of pulling, don't worry we still have the good old days.

alot has changed over the years pros use to make 1000 hp and would run road gear suoer use to run 1500-1800 and run a little over road gear the sleds use to drag hard now its a drag race basicly alot has changed there are companys that make a living off performance parts its no longer what i can build vs what the guy can build if you watch pulling from the 90s vs today and cant tell a differance your blind as far as changing the class layout id love to see it along with several others possibly just let us know when your pull will be so we can attend

Josh, all that is true, however not much of that increased HP translates to a much different show from 40 years ago.

I don't know Dick, I think you may be looking at it wrong. I seen the post and read the negative comments. Discussion of new ideas and changing things does make people/promotors think. Recommending that a pull maybe try something different may never happen. But someone else may see the post and it spark an idea. Next, with the individuals that are screaming to leave it alone. 1, Would Bowling Green miss them? 2, If they would leave, would 3 others attend instead? 3, I will call bullshit on them not going if they limit classes. If someone has been going to Bowling Green for the past xyz number of years and Bowling Green limits class number, they are still going to go.

As far as the organizations themselves not changing, The IHRA/PPL and Fendt High Stakes series are currently on top as far as payout. In my opinion, no one is even close. But look back when Lucas left the PPL. From a fan stand point, it struggled some. I think the PPL is lucky to have what they currently do and I hope it works out. But at some point the owner of the IHRA will be out. Not being negative about him either. He will want to eventually want to retire. Is there a plan for that. I don't know. So again, I don't want to say that doing things the same is 100% wrong, and not going to say that them changing is correct or going to work.

Its way past changing the format.cuves should of been lowered a bunch so crossdressing wouldn't of never been thought of.
Mods needed different limits to keep wedge heads and Allison's competitive.those few things would have made it different and more i Teresa to a bigger croud.lss shoulda been a non 466 based class to keep variety..who wants to watch an all red powered dss,all bbjd powered ps,and everything else all hemi powered..
Again I've said for damn near 2 decades,people around me at bg cheered cope and shramek,and Bollinger allison.now we just watch somewhat uninterested, add Tories wedge heads to that mix too..its simply variety..Saturday night at bg,it be interesting to do a fan poll,everyone that has nothing to do with pulling,knows nothing about it,please stand..noone would..our fan base is extremely brand loyal to equipement they us.thats not gonna change.

Patches, couldn't agree more. And you're right it's almost to late for any real changes in the 4000+ HP range of pulling vehicles, that's why all the growth is in HF, Lmt.PS, and Lt.PS.

Football is the same "show" it's been for 100 for more years, has the best tv ratings of anything and huge crowds. So what's your point? Most of the pulls in Ohio draw good crowds. The GN pulls I attend have good crowds. Bowling Green has the biggest, so why mess with it?

I wasn't bashing anyone, I only asked how does it stay feasible and not turn into another Lucas scenario where you pile the money in and not see any benefit so walk away? 1 new sponsor so far changes the entire game? My only point is all form of sports or motorsports depends on fans and spectators how are we drawing them in with a different payout format for a selected few that is going to put on the same show as ALL other organizations including your local clubs?
