If true, which appears accurate from an ill-fated purchase of a livestream, how in the hell did anyone not know about this in advance? There are pullers there from over a thousand miles away! |

So no Light Mods in the 1p afternoon session, since they know it's gonna be a dust bowl..
They need to start the evening session at 4p, having 5+ mins between hooks is beyond stupidity. Where's Ned to make sure that everything is moving along down there? Or is he at an NHRA event? |

and this would be why the ntpa is gonna be a joke until they get a new boss. This is an absolute embarrassment all the way around and they should be ashamed of themselves for making pullers drive all that way for this crap. can’t wait for all the excuses. The only thing the NTPA leadership should say we screwed up we have to do better. |

Amazing how well things run when the Lazer works correctly. |

Re: Southern sweep, how do you like me now?????

Why
|
Definitely a joke! I've never seen such pissing around and the extreme amount of.time between hooks. "NTPA GRAND NATIONAL" EVENT! Supposed to be a prestigious event but I've seen brush pulls run that were far more organized and kept the show running. With 2 tracks, there should be a vehicle ready to take off as soon as the other vehicle finishes their pull. A big event like this should not be held up because a laser quit working. Where is the backup equipment? What a disgrace to the sport. Then we wonder why pulling is loosing the stands??? |

They started an hour early and still just beat the curfew by a half hour (9:30p)...
As a fan it was still way too drug out and too much DOWN TIME. If it's a track prep issue, then fix it. Sleds or pullers not being ready, then fix this darn thing. The past two weekends of the NTPA Live Stream have been insufferable. How do we showcase that product to a sponsor to invest in the sport? I am embarrassed for NTPA!! |

The Saturday live stream and show went quite well I thought. Some of you’d complain about NTPA no matter what they do. Yes Friday did suck but they made changes and fixed it Saturday. The PPL shows I’ve been to have been nothing to brag about either other than Badger State. That’s all them and not ppl though. |

Hopefully with the acquisition of the Outlaws NTPA can get an education on how to run a show. Have had many fans that only had the opportunity of watching NTPA events most of their lives come to an Outlaw pull and one of the first things they comment on is how well run and fast pace the event was. What happened in Florida Friday night was probably out of anyone's control and things happen but they definitely made up for it on Saturday night. I would guess they were just as disappointed as anyone. |

lol why and bad news. I’m pretty sure if the Ntpa official had his shoe come untied you’d find that unsatisfactory and complain about it. Here’s the best part. If you don’t like the Ntpa livestreams and the show they put on……. Don’t go…… don’t watch the livestream. The ppl season will start soon just hold on a little longer. |

I remember when in 2013 Super Bowl 47 the lights went out for 34 minutes. There is no bigger sporting event than the Super Bowl, yet the lights went out. Things happen, however I will agree that the time between hooks is something within their power to control , that the NTPA can certainly do much better. And I wonder who's responsibility it was to check if there was indeed a noise curfew? Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News Edited 1 time(s). They need to go to one of Klint Tuckers events and bring a big notebook and a couple ink pens and take plenty of notes -- they sure could learn a bunch from him and his crew -- but they probably would feel like they were lowering their standards to be taught anything !!! Klints got the best run event out of all of the other organizations by far !!! |

It should be that time or faster with 2 tracks. 1 guy hooking to the sled and ready to go while the opposite track is pulling. Whatever happened to being on the clock when you hooked to a sled? Some of these guys took FOREVER! I understand things happen unexpectedly, but if they do, get off the track, let the next competitor run and come back later. I get sick of the automotive engines taking their sweet time to get started and driving to the track. When we pull, as the sled is backing up we're ready to drive on the track and hook. To me that crap just unnecessarily slows down a show. |

I did not watch the livestream, was watching college basketball. Several people mentioned it took a long time between hooks.
My question is: Why did it take so long between hooks? Also, who is the promoter for both these Florida GN pulls? |

Unfortunately the NTPA has a history of not running fast, exciting shows. There is no sense of urgency, they almost forget that there people in the stands, fans! They have moved some of the high HP classes to earlier in the show which only means that some classes now have the later spots. That's not a fix, it's a bandaid, maybe speed up the show and that problem will go away. And who is responsible for getting vehicles hooked up and getting scrapper tractors off the track? Everything is done at a snails pace. Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/16/2026 03:00AM by Dick Morgan. |

I turn for the days of ss and pros 4-5 deep running/warming up,blue smoke that would gag you when inhaled..mods that were running when the previous puller got flagged.ust to be we spent more time watching the hooks, instead of watching the wait..ugh |

I don't think concepts like, risk indentification and mitigation planing, operational efficiency, value proposition, and customer satisfaction are at all part of the NTPA thought process. In the IT world they call it GIGO; Garbage in - Garbage out. |

With NTPA there needs to be more uniformity as far as a dedicated track crew for GN events. Marvin is strung too thin and has to literally do it all, or so it seems.
I am hearing that the IHRA PPL Series is supposed to have a track crew for the High Stakes series at least. Either way, the fans get screwed over with a long drawn out show. NTPA seemingly didn't care about it Friday. I bet we hear the excuse on Friday how "it's their first time at a new venue" My goodness, it's not their first time putting on a tractor pull... We ended up turning off the live stream to watch sprint cars instead. |

Re: Southern sweep

Its a multi million dollar event with some highly invested stakeholders and a growing audience. It needs to be run professionally and not like a bunch of good Ole boys running a brush pull. No intention of insulting the brush pullers. |

The NTPA runs a faster show than ANY ppl pull I've ever been to. (I've been to my last one) Things happen unfortunately, equipment isn't quite as perfect as some on this board! Since you all know so much why don't you start an organization and run it perfectly with your wealth of knowledge?!
You probably wouldn't last through the first summer. |

I will make it simple, people ( fans ) buy a ticket to enjoy an event, they have every right to expect to get their monies worth. I'm sure that when you go shopping and don't like the service you jump right behind the check out station and lend a hand. Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News |

I seldom am in Fan 2's camp, but I completely agree with him on his statement: "The NTPA runs a faster show than ANY ppl pull I've ever been to. Since you all know so much why don't you start an organization and run it perfectly with your wealth of knowledge?! You probably wouldn't last through the first summer."
PPL CT's that I have attended like many OSTPA (PPL) leave a lot to be desired and they make NTPA run events look mighty fine, even the ones that have issues. It is called perspective. But then this board is very anti-NTPA and pro-PPL. Sounds like some biases cloud objectivity. |

Re: Southern sweep

I was the one running the skid loader and rake on the big end. Mark Kelsey busted his ass all week building a track out of material that I and most of you on this board have never seen or worked with. Track maintenance was not an issue Friday. After the first couple pullers we find our groove and things went smoothly. The lazer however did slow us down significantly but things happen. If everything in the lives of the ones complaining on here is perfect then good for you. You’re one of the lucky ones. Most of you on here have never promoted a pull of any size and it shows. I’ve been on both sides as a puller and promoter it can be down right frustrating sometimes but you adapt make changes and move on. That’s what we did on Saturday night and we put on a awesome show for a packed house.I applaud all the people involved with making this happen it’s a lot of work and details that most people don’t understand. I will be flying back down on Thursday to assist in track preparation and maintenance at Satsuma. Just sit back and enjoy the show and remember things aren’t always as cut and dry as it seems. |

As a former track worker, I get it. Some things are just out of control. ie, No back up lazer, etc. stuff happens!! Say night was a lot better and thats that!! |

Re: Southern sweep

From NTPA results--61 hooks Saturday night
From multiple pullers posts on social media. Show was completed by 9:30PM and started at 6:00PM or 210 minutes That equates to a puller going down the track every 3.44 minutes Sounds like a great show unless you are a hater. Compared to Goshen, IN PPL which was 6 minutes per hook on a single track |

Wrong. The last blast was approximately 8:45pm. Averaged 2.7 min per lap Saturday.
Did we F up Friday? You bet we did! Give us the grace that we fixed all we could to run at that pace the next day. We will learn from this experiment. Not every facility is the same. We had to try. CP |

First time at a venue or not – the Friday fans got hosed...
And a $5 discount, really?? All of the fans with a Friday ticket should have gotten a a free ticket to Saturday!! Nah, let's screw the fans again!! Ned had better think of the fans more than ever from here on out or the pullers will be pulling in front of an empty grandstands down there next year. |

Per the NTPA rulebook "A session of pulling will be called a completed show if one-half of the sanctioned classes have been run." It's really no different than a rainout where half the classes run where a majority of events also call that a full show, and most won't refund or give you a free ticket to the next session or the following year. Stuff Happens

10-15 years ago a friend went to a big pull 100 miles away..It was $20 to get in with no refunds..He gave them a $100 bill and found out later that he had only gotten $60 back...After 7 hooks or so the heavens opened up and the pull was over...Guess what...He went back to that pull one year later and had a great time and there was a huge crowd.. Some years ago I went to a pull where the sled broke half way thru it..The pull was over and there were no refunds..A year later I was back there again and things went great..At yet another pull the track was too wet and it was called after one class..You could get your money back but I didnt ask for mine as I knew they would lose money..I didnt figure that $15 was going to ruin me..Sometimes things just dont go right..I'm willing to forgive and forget. |

The event Saturday started promptly at 5:59pm and pulling ended at 8:37pm. My watch says 2 hours and 38 minutes for just under 70 hooks. I'd say that's a pretty darn good show. Friday night, a slowdown at the scales, an equipment malfunction, and a noise ordinance were all challenges—but the way everyone (i.e., fans, pullers, volunteers, the track crew, NTPA, and Full Pull) bounced back and responded on Saturday was just awesome! Now on to Satsuma for Round 2! Dan Mayer www.pulling-reference.com Dedicated to Preserving the History of Tractor & Truck Pulling Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/16/2026 07:19PM by Dan M. |
