Same Tractor and truck names
|
Why is it that everyone thinks they can take the name of a tractor that is well know and use it for their truck or tractor there should be some kind of rule that states you can't use a name already in use. |

Well, sometimes the well known puller is not the first to use a name. Here are 2 hypotheticals- How would a pro stock puller in Ohio know about a small block econo mod in Texas that has used the name for years? If a natural aspirated mini puller in California has ran his American Thunder mini for 30 years, how would Bill Vories have known about it? |

You didn't provide examples. How do you know permission was not given?

When we were putting together our Twin engine tractor I reached out to Shawn Swearingen about using the Joker name on it and he was fully supportive of It and I was in contact with him sending Pictures of the design all the way through the Graphics process. We wouldn't of Named it that without Approval. So if you have Approval why not use the name? |

Putting Names on Pulling Vehicles
|
Stomper
|
I think putting names on pulling vehicles is very irrelevant. Only other modern motorsports that names their vehicles are monster trucks and they put off such a cheesy vibe that makes them cator to the young crowd only, adults only attend because they are bringing their kids. A tractor should be listed by the name of the driver, pulling team, and manufacturer of the tractor. If you want to put a name on the tractor thats fine but it should be meaningless and not announced or documented. Just my opinion. |

Nascar might as well take the numbers off the cars too while were at it. --- |

Stomper, I think putting names on pulling vehicles is very relevant. As a matter of fact, there should be a rule requiring a name on the vehicle, and competitors should be encouraged to have some kind of hand-painted or vinyl graphics on the side shields. Take a page from Monster Jam — make the fans identify a vehicle by its name. Dan Mayer www.pulling-reference.com Dedicated to Preserving the History of Tractor & Truck Pulling |

Dan, I couldn't agree more, pulling is in the entertainment field just like all the other motorsports. It has to be exciting and entertaining. Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News |

Other than the V8 Massey’s,.no need for a name when you’re already a legend! |

NP Problem

I see no problem using the same name unless you are both pulling in the same organization or both live in the same state...Just about every name possible has been used at one time or another on pullers from coast to coast. I once used a name from a tractor that had once pulled 2 states away and was no longer being pulled..Neither one of us pulled nationally. |
