Insuring a pulling tractor March 21, 2010 05:18AM
Just bought a pulling tractor a diesel pro. How can I insure this thing. Farm policy is a little hesistant to bind coverage. Is there a company that insures pulling tractors against loss.

Re: Insuring a pulling tractor March 21, 2010 05:39AM
I would like to know the same thing. My farm insurance company will not cover my tractor that I am using as a stock/hot stock puller.

Good question. Would auto coverage cover it while towing? And does anyone cover it while in the shop?

I have Rural Insurance in Wisconsin for my Farm and it covers the Pulling Tractor and Spectators. Hauling & towing also.
For 1 million dollars coverage . Price tag is $200.00 per year.

I have a new super farm that I ran this year and had similar concerns about insurance. I have what they call an inland/marine policy with Peerless Ins Co. for $100,000.00 coverage it cost me $1200.00 per year. The policy covers the tractor any time that it is not running under its own power. Its now covered in my garage, my hauler, and also at pulls in the pits. The coverage is pretty good I guess, it covers fire, theft, vandalism, and physical damage. I hate the bill when I get it, but I would hate to be out with nothing if there was an accident. Hope this helps.

we insured a SF through K&K this spring...1000 per year, they are easy to work with and will answer any questions you have about it. Its covered anytime its not running under its own power. Once that motor starts your coverage stops. They seem to cover a lot of racers/pullers. Hope this helps.

Is there a special company for this kind of insurance? Certainly with all the money folks have invested these things are insured. The agent i buy my home/farm/vehicle insurance just laughed at me, needless to say I am shopping for new insurance for those items as well. I have an antique V8 mod, not near the money some of you have invested but enough that I would feel better if it was protected in the event of fire or whatnot. Thanks.

K&K Seems to be the popular one to go through. Minimum premium $1000 will get you covered for what its worth. Easy to work with too

just renewed my policy with Hagerty ins. out of michagan. I have $50,000 of agreed value on my hot farm tractor . with a $750.00 deductable and Another $750.00 coverage for spare parts, for lessthan $240.00 a year. This is for comp. only but ithought this was reasonable compared to some of the other clowns i talked to.

Here is my recent quote locally:

Good Morning Ron,

Here is a brief summary of the pulling vehicle insurance product we developed with Liberty Mutual. Our insurance product covers the pulling vehicle off track and when the vehicle is not under its own power. The policy is setup on an agreed value basis meaning that once we establish a coverage value, if you have a total loss that is what you get. In other words if we put $85,000 of coverage on the truck with a $5,000 deductible and it burns up in a fire, you get $80,000 with no evaluation hassles.

Coverage Summary

Limited Pro Diesel Truck-“48 Special”-$85,000

$5,000 deductible (other options are available)

$2,000 in spare parts

Annual premium-$700

If you have additional questions or if you are interested in getting this coverage started, please let me know.

Thank you,
