Re: 4020 gas May 07, 2010 03:48AM

Re: 4020 gas May 07, 2010 04:52AM
Talk to Fritz Ahman from Farley IA. He has one of the best running 4020 gas tractors around.

Re: 4020 gas May 07, 2010 05:02AM
How can i contact him?

Re: 4020 gas May 07, 2010 01:01PM
Get rid of the gas engine to start. U from Somerset PA?

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 12:52AM
Yes and i want something cheap thats y i want 2 build that tractor

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 01:20AM
What kind of rules are you looking to build to?

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 02:13AM
I'm guessin u wanna pull at Listie or New Centerville. Stock is 10mph or pure stock for 9500 or 11500 is 5mph I believe. Better stick with pure stock with that gas engine. 11500@ 10mph takes about 300hp. I got a 404t out of a 4430 that needs rebuilt really cheap. I'm also from Somerset not sure who u are yet.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 02:42AM
I'm new to the area and i heard new centerville is a bad place to pull unless you are pulling red and you are part of that group of friends.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 03:25AM
Some people talk too much! A "group of friends" does not run the pull! I don't know if ur new or just tryin to start something. Red, green, blue, or orange doesn't matter. Our pulls are trying 2 get more organized with rules, safety, and classes and there are some that like to argue and butt heads because they can!

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 03:57AM
I enjoy pulling not fighting i just want some advice and maybe i should not listen to rumors. i just moved up here to farm in the new paris area

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 04:53AM
Where did you move from? Most people up here do most of their own work or work together on a group of tractors. That gas engine could be a tough task to be competative with. Not saying its impossible. If u got a way 2 haul that 4440 that's the one I'd be playin with. I might be able to find u a diesel engine.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:39AM
As for my 4440 i do wanna pull it some but i need it to farm i can't afford to hurt it or turn much more than it already is

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:48AM
If ur in New Paris there ir pulls in New Enterprise too. That's not very far 25 miles maybe.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:56AM
Somerset puller,

Welcome to the area! I have a 4010 gas it is a lot of fun. These guys are right to a certain extent. Let me explain.

A gas engine is competitive in the lighter classes (5500-7500) a 4020 is a lot heavier than a 4010. I don't know how light you can get a 4020.

A gas engine needs to turn high RPM to be competitive versus diesel. This makes factory gas stuff unusable (gas cranks have less mains). The cam driven oil pump is very risky on these engines. I know some diesel guys use them, but gassers turn more rpms for longer amount of time (slower ground speed).

If I would of had it to do over, I would never build another gas engine. We have fewer pulls every year to go to. Besides pump and turbo all other parts cost about the same. I have alot of parts that could help you get started if you are interested.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 03:17AM
will that 4430 motor fit my tractor and who can i get to work on pullers in the area

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:16AM
Simple question the man asked!!!!! why cant he work with what he has? Keep in mind folks some peaple cant afford store bought tractors but love the sport of pullin.Talk to some drag racers they might be able to help you out with your gasser. Damn good thing Don Garletts didnt throw out the hemi and just go buy something else like a diesel motor!!! Cut out the negitivety and help the man out!!!!!

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:30AM
Thanks thats a gd start with the drag racer i never thought of that

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:35AM
I'm not being negative. He wants to use his gas engine that's fine. He said he wanted to build it! Therefore that means he had in mind to spend some money. Maybe a little, maybe a lot, his choice! Somersetpuller I think the test&tune @ Listie is the 15th. I'll check.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:45AM
Dremel tool, clean up intake holes, homemade header pipe, change camshaft vogle can help there, good spark ignition with rev limitr, av gas vp racing can help there, big block chev clutch, and strip off anything you dont need. make her light

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:58AM
thanks bill. and milkman is new enterprise antipue

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 06:16AM
There is an antique club there. They pulla little bit of everything. Good many 4020s.

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:51AM
the test and tune was to be tonite but got rained out. i was going to take my 4440 to see if i could keep up

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 05:58AM
Oops! I'm a week behind! What class do wanna run ur 44 in?

Re: 4020 gas May 08, 2010 06:05AM
My 4440 weighs 12180 and is stock except for the fuel screw

Re: 4020 gas May 09, 2010 04:24AM
That 4440 should do good inthe 10mph class. I'm gonna see one of pull commitee members for Listie this afternoon, I'll ask if they're rescheduling the test@tune.

Re: 4020 gas May 09, 2010 05:16AM
thanks and do a lot of farm tractors show up or they mainly just tractors for pulling?

Re: 4020 gas May 09, 2010 12:03PM
There's a good bit in the pure stock a few in the stock and hot stock ZERO. I talked to Adam about the test pull. He's not sure they can reschedule before the 1st pull. Memorial day weekend.
