AJ, This is what I have been telling my boys...nothing is guaranteed this year in IL for sure. I mean good grief, just ask the IL dirt tracks about that one.

Henry - 3 years ago
I know we are yet a month and a half away, and my kids are watching this event like crazy hoping there is no cancellation. The listed classes do not show Pro Stock tractors or Unlimited SS tractors scheduled (PPL site). Is this accurate?
They also want to know if they will ever get to see the Semi class at this show before they get into junior high (3 years)...haha

To those who mentioned "the show is already too long," you are correct. And why? Because we as fans, for whatever reason, believe it is acceptable for there to be up to a 5 minute gap between hooks. There is nothing more painful and irritating as a fan than to see both tracks prepped and cleared, the sled parked, and no engine running. It was mentioned above a 1-minute clock from the sled was

dmax47...you mention "...making it into NFMS as a PS is not "special" like it is this year with ss....". Is that kind of like saying getting to a bowl game with a 6-6 or 7-6 record isn't special in college football when you had to be in the top 3 of your conference to get to a bowl game just 20 years ago? It seems you and I might think the same way on some things. But like you, I think

Picking the top 12 Supers for the NFMS sure does remind me of NCAA football rankings and playoff. Someone is always left out and there will always be arguments as to why someone is better than others that got in. If you take 15 to the dance, #16-20 will be upset they didn't get in and so forth. Its an unenviable position for the "choosers" to be in in both sports and I am not certain there

I know nothing about nothing and I don't know what I don't know; but, I have enjoyed reading the comments on this thread. It reminds me of when a D2 football team beats a D1 school (App St vs Michigan in football). Yes, it is a huge win to have a D2 school beat a D1 school. It turns into every D2 school scheduling D1 schools and most get beat with some occasionally winning. On the f

...or we could be like the mini rod class in Henry...the competitor we sat next to said the finish line flag man told the starting line official the sled needed reset after both the first and second pullers and got overruled. So as a fan, we got to watch 2 hrs worth of mini rods with 6 of the 11 entries making the pull off. It was a little much and the slowest yet longest Henry I recall, even w

Thank you everyone for your educational and age appropriate responses, my son loved reading them. It led to another great discussion between he and I. His "best" comment was similar to that of Jake and ProStockPuller..."...so if an unlimited mod with 4 or 5 engines ran nitro-methane, would the driver still be alive when he gets to the end of the pull and spins out?
He then found a YouTub

My 10 yr old and I we were watching a bit of the Brainerd replay. He posed a question that I didn't know the definite answer to as I am just a fan and not close enough to know the inner workings of the machines enough to provide an educated answer. He doesn't take BS answers as he wants to know facts. His question is what is/are the differences between the engines used on the top fue

Jake, you hit the nail on the head with point #2. It was exactly what frustrated me so much about Henry this year. With two less classes, the pull lasted just as long. I ended up putting a stop watch to it; a little shy of 5 minutes between pulls on each track if memory serves me correctly. The sled sat stationary at the start line for near 3 minutes until the next vehicle hooked to it. Ther

AJ, Thank you for the insight. I am from 90 minutes south of there so the "other stuff" is something I am not aware of. My kids don't even hit the midway when we are there as their focus is the pull itself. With that being said, I do understand the economics of it all. Thank you for your post.

I have a young'en that would like to know why the unlimited super stock tractors are not scheduled to be at Henry on Saturday. I see they are in Freeport the night before then not scheduled for 2 weeks later. Just want to inform my little guy, Thank you for anyone who has the info.

ITPA seems to all this quite regularly as if there are always two Lt / Lim Pros in the heavy SS class if their classes run the same night. Seems the same thing happens in the PS class as well. Why not, its prize money to help pay for the trip.

If I could win the lottery, I would have this all figured out. I would gladly make 3 DSS machines and I already have my drivers lined up; they are currently 13, 10, and 8. Its only money. People who want to pull don't have it to make a vehicle. People who have been pulling and have gotten out need more of it to stay in. People who are currently pulling are seeing it fly out the window f

The one thing that has always made me curious about builders who are drivers, or drivers who are builders (if you like that better), is when does the driving and attending pulls get in the way of production at the shop? How many quality drivers have stepped down to keep the shop business going? I think we see this scenario play out in wet springs too with farmers who are pullers. To me it seem

Bryan, Along the same lines as the UDLX, I have always wanted to see a ZT or RT grill/hood combination with the red grill screen and the side tins with the louvers. I believe I had read that Edson had the grill of an original 460 was enlarged mathematically to fit the engine. As a MM fan, I would love to see this grill/hood combo enlarged surrounding a massive engine compared to the 25 HP from

Not sure if these guys could/would run at Louisville or not, or only Illinois or PPL (based upon rules and tractor set up), but what about Meese, Kesslers, or any ISP tractors? Again, I don't know the rules or even if they would want to. But as mentioned a number of times, I think there are plenty of LSS units out there to run two sessions.

Pull Fan....I agree, I always liked the Double Stuff mod set-up with the two in-line 6 engines, and for that matter, Texas Bullwhip with his in-line 6 and 2 V8s. I always wondered how 2 903 V8s would compete.

Scott, i arrived at 5pm with my family and was met by an armed officer who said the pits were not free and I had to buy another wristband to get into the pits. I went back to the infield entry gate and the gentleman said the officer is wrong but he sent me to talk to Michelle, another lady checking infield wrist bands. She tells me the same thing the officer tells me. She then says I need to co

Are pits open for fans before each session? If so, does the pit access come with the $9 general admission and $20 event admission or is pit access another fee on top of that? Thank you for your time and advisement.

The news of Brian stepping back shouldn't necessarily take anyone who is an avid sports fan of any kind by surprise. It actually happens all the time in the world of sports. A team does good and things happen in the off season; right, wrong, or indifferent. Fans will either jump for joy or cry their eyes out. Its part of a business as well, which all sports are a business when it comes d

I have 2 little guys in my house that were not around when NTPA ran at Henry. Would anyone be willing to let me know when it went from NTPA to PPL...and why? They have never seen semi truck pull and want to so bad, so we need to find someplace local to see them. This is a burning question and they will not stop until I find out...
Thank you all in advance.

And why they can't do the same thing? Yeah, just about as confusing to him as the confusion you are talk
