I believe there is someone now making adapter plates to put 8.3 cummins engines in MMs. That would be a great advantage over the original 4 main MM diesel.

They are ok but the fit and finish leaves a little to be desired. IMCO makes beautiful stainless tanks but they are expensive.

Late 1650 and 1655 are the same. The way to tell them apart from an early 1650 head is the casting divots between the sparkplugs. If you're planning on putting it on an older block you'll have to plug the back two water passage holes on the head.

Lots of variables. For big cubes (450+) I'd go with a 195gk or 1100 massey head. For smaller builds like a 4 mph tractor a 1655 head works well.

All I can advise is to leave it sit for at least a month after you pour it. As it drys it will push on the sleeves.

Well you can't have both. To achieve a measured preload you must first add or remove enough shims to get a measurable endplay. Once you have that measurement to can remove or add shims to tighten or put a small load on the bearings.

I took a nice freshly torn apart 5010 rearend to him a few years ago to have some machine work done to it. He left it sit outside for several months then said he wouldnt be able to do the work. When I picked it up it was nice and rusty.
I ordered an exhaust header once. He sent me pictures of it being built. I never received it.
I bought straight cut timing gears from him for a BB JD. I
