Tractors offered for sale doesnt necessarily affect the number of tractors at pulls. I'm pretty sure the new owners will do something with it. I mean a LSS makes for a great conversation piece in anyones shop, but I'm sure they will all be on the track next year. If anything, class numbers will go up. The guys selling will undoubtably build new.

Counter weights off of an old crane? If the gentleman gave us some indication as to what part of the country he is from, that would help a lot. Is it meritime related? Is he nowhere near the shore, but perhaps close to open ground mining. Help paint us a better picture! Raw scrap material doesnt generally travel great distances before the industry consumes it.

Floyd might think you are talking about the IH 301, and probably thinks that the Red Diamond series would be a better option for cubic inches. I'm guessing you are referring to an Allis 301 Diesel? 301 doesn't give enough info for the guys who may have suggestions for you.

I have found that a 3.55 ratio ring and pinion is available for the sqhd carrier. 3.55 with 4:1 planetaries and my top gear that is 12% overdrive in the ProFab (.88) nets a final drive ratio of 12.5:1. With my 3.70 ring and pinion set, the final drive ratio hits right around 13:1. Sounds like a good place to start.

I might just do it. I have the component chassis, and its pretty light. 30.5 pullers, mag planetaries and billit center with SCS franklin carriers. All of my engine parts are Prostock parts. Could try it, and hook without points just to see how it would do. Lots of things to try as far as getting it to hook. Longer drawbar, weighting, tires and pressure just like any other class. I have a 5 speed

Thank you, Sir- I was beginning to question my sanity. Now that rule has been changed? Or has it simply gone away slowly because it didn't apply to any tractors currently competing?

I think it was Dick Morgan that mentioned the possibility of doing it a few years back. I cant find that thread though. The question was how to get diesels to compete with the alkies in the light super class. I will continue to dig for that thread. At the time it seemed like a possibility, however the cost would be rather high.

Really? Was it ever stated in the NTPA rule book then? I could swear there was a cubic inch difference in one of my old rule books, but it must be removed now.

A few years ago, the PPL rulebook had the alcohol light supers limited to 505 cubes, and if I remember correctly- diesels were allowed 650 or so. Has that been dissolved now to where all fuels are limited to 505, or are diesels still allowed in the class if they are over cubed? Curious how a prostock engine with good components would fair against the smaller alkies...

Whats wrong with the 474 ford block? If a guy bases his engine platform off of the 456 genesis motor knowing full well that a small block has limitations, then do rules need to be changed based on a failed attempt? I don't know that Bob Barbee is running a genesis based powerplant, but thinking out loud here, if I was to say "Hey, I'm going to build a light super using an IH Neuss germa

I have a recast Hypermax head available. It is dry, with 140# springs and stock sized valves. Virgin ports- so you don't have to worry about buying a head that someone made their mistakes on. $2500 for the head, or $3000 with o-ringed Hypermax valve cover. $3500 for head, valve cover and 307 intake. Neil @ 608-317-7321 if interested.

Yes Sir- I read the post. I could meet those requirement under loose interpretation, but will it be a pure stock class? Functional PTO and cast rears a must have? No electric supply pumps?

Will the heavy farm class be subject to the same ignorant rules that were imposed at Reedstown? Or will farm stock tractors be limited by factory appearing pumps, 2.3" turbos and governed by speed limits?

I believe in rules, and believe they should be followed. I dont understand the coolant rule, but it excludes me. I can live with that. Move on. The thing that gets me is the side shields being banned? I've never heared of being banned for excessive concern for safety. If my tractor had a seatbelt- would it have to be removed before I could hook just to prove that my tractor wasnt "overbuilt"

What farm stock tractor was ever produced and would come in off the field with a 466 engine and weigh in at 12,000 lbs? Truck cranks are ok, but in the spirit of competition, you have to pull off your 307 intakes because thats considered a modification. Really?

My farm stock 1566 is a dry block and solid head. Guess I didnt know that running dry was going to make more power. Please make sure these rules are posted clearly and are enforced accordingly. Since 99% of the competative running tractors in your area would not be able to run under those rules, I would hate to see a lot of good tractors make a wasted trip.

I dont have a dog in this fight, but I did drive about three hours to get there from Southwest WI on saturday. I drove around the pits to find Mike Sandefur's trailer. Looked like trucks outnumbered tractors 2-1, so once I got my parts I turned around and headed for home. About 10 light supers there, and Gallitz had the limited pros there. Couldnt see hanging around any longer. Churnin Dirt

A friend of mine got a pump from him. Said it came off the line and pulled great, but broke the cam in the pump. The guy apologized and fixed the pump right away, and said that the cam was an experimental grind, and wasnt intended to be installed in a customer pump. Sounds like great customer service anyways. Get an old set of steel lines from a boneyard. Cut the tubes off and leave about a quarter inch of tube on each circle. A roller from the IH shifting covers works great to splice the two circles together. I tig welded mine. Simply remove the two o-rings per bolt and assemble everything on the mcv valve while you tack it in place. Remove it to finish welding. Once it has cooled, reinstall o-rings

I have a pretty good plan worked out. I made a jig this afternoon that allowed me to chock up my s366 exhaust housing in the lathe and machined down the output to the same diameter as the 3lm outlet ring that adapts it to the elbow. I ordered a new cast elbow and ring for the 3lm, and when that stuff shows up, I will be able to make the Borg Warner bolt right in place of the 3lm. Will make things
