What are others doing when storing injection pumps. I've got a few extra pumps.. some I just bagged up when pulled off, or back from the shop.. Now have a good spare and don't want to have problems later... So, what are you putting in the pumps when you are storing them.. There has to be something better then diesel when they sit for extended periods of time??
Any Opinions, and wh

Search on here.. there is quite a bit of good info about building the multi disk Perma clutches, by welding the PTO and traction hubs together...
What class are you going to pull in??? If you ever plan to to a class that you will have to go to a dry clutch.. might as well start of with a dry clutch tractor.. (4020-4320)... but if you are going to running farm stock.. hot farm..( depending on

Are you sure it's a cam driven oil pump? Later engines used the same cam but just to run the tach drive but crank driven oil pump.. Sounds like the engine is a later engine with the smaller bolt pattern.. I don't know if anyone is make a mounting plate.. But you can make plate to fit the new engine and cut out the old one.. If it was a small frame tractor you can swap the frame rails to

I'm not sure how your clutch is setup.. But couldn't you just cut down the stands/spacers for the pressure plate?? The thicker floater would be better.. Just a thought

The bell housing bolt pattern is still the same today on the 9.0L engines... If you want largest mechanical pumped engine.. it would be the 8.1L engine... Highest HP 8.1L would probably be a marine or OEM engine in the 400-425Hp range.. Most (not all.) 8.1L Ag applications were Electronic Governored.. but most likey you won't use the pump anyways...
Many like the 55-60 series engine as w

The 55 head has a very small combustion chamber.. ( hard to even call it a chamber) So it will lower your compression ratio.. Many never have problems just installing the head.. It depends on what your ratio is to start with... I'd put it on and run it..

The 63/64-66 mustange radiators work well.. easy mounts... only thing I would like better is to get a radiator with the threaded inlet and outlet..
Something like this...

Make one with a big hole in it.. Or get a big clevis and weld it to a plate horizontal and bolt it to your draw bar.. (if you don't want to weld up a factory draw bar..)

Put the stop pin back in.. It will keep the lube valve from moving too far down... If you have a Repair manual it has a good picture showing the Lube valve, and you can see where the oil is going..

With the jumper.. You should just need the brake port plugged.. The PTO lever should be off.. But engaging the lever and check your pressure again.. I would bet it comes back.. Meaning you are losing your pressure in your valve body.. When the PTO lever is off its open to return unless you blocked it off in your modification to the valve..

Need to make sure you have the correct ports plugged.. Not sure which part you modified on the valve body.. The easiest way is to remove the bottoms portion of the lube reduction valve.. If you remove the bottom part of lube you will need to plug the PTO brake and PTO ports.. Usually at the supply tubes is the easiest place..

A John Deere 8030 hood. There are no cracks in the hood. The top of the hood is in good condition. The left side has some minor scrapes in on it. The right side has 2-3 scratches. The black inner frame is cracked at the nose, and is seperated from the green in a few places. Mostly likely if you are going to use this on a pulling tractor you will removed the black inner frame.

On a JD 4010/20 how much are most stretching the hoods? Are they just going to the length of a 4320 hood or further? And were are you getting the hoods.. (I know binder lite can build them, anyone else.)
Thanks

H&S has been one of the top sellers.. But not sure what is going to happen since the EPA cracked down on them a month or so ago and all their DPF stuff disappeared .. The Smarty delete files also disappeared off their website at the same time.

Yanmar.. I always asumed they were the same bolt pattern... never tried actually bolting the P-pump on there... (Good to know for sure.. thanks.) The 8.1L HPCR engines had the big hole in the block..
Like he said, chunk the head.. find an 8.1L Mechanical head or 55 head..
It might be cheaper to trade the engine for a Mechanical 8.1L engine.. I guess I read the orginal post wrong.. I thou

I dont think I have ever seen an early 8.1L (pre high pressure common rail.) that had anything on it, but a P pump... (diesel anyways.) Some had the Electronic Governor, but it was still a P pump..
I have only seen 2 castings for the 8.1L... R122419 and R122492.. No idea on the differances.. if any..

That should run circles around that gas engine.. especially at those rpms... I think the early 91's were 18cm exhaust housing.. the 91.5 and laters were 22-23.. If it gets under the turbo, get a turbo off a later 5.9L with a 12cm housing.. or just the housing.. (the compressor wheels were a little bigger on the later turbos too. (I think 95 and later.)

I think you'll be fine with the VE pump.. Its not hard to turn up the HP on the VE pump... It won't make the HP the P pump will.. but you can get 300HP fairly easy.. Like posted above.. it will depend on the rpms the gas engine was running, but most likely it was not too high.. I would think with the torque it will be a great machine, compared to running the gasser...

You could probably trade someone the dodge adapter plate for the SAE housing you need for the 545.. I have an inline pump 5.9L with an Allison... but its going to be a while before I get the engine and trans out..

Start with a 9.0L crank in an 8.1l block.. I can't remember the rod journal but they are in the 3.25-3.35 range.. Try a 3.0 rod.. JD or IH with a grind on the crank
