Ok, I have been working on something similar all day. My transmission is a 560 and it has 1 gear shift lever. I put a pushbutton between my starter button and starter on my gearshift lever so that the starter could only activate while it was in neutral.
For the reverse light, I use a Jacobs jake brake switch mounted so that it will only activate the light when I put in reverse.

Quote23.1 x 26 tire sounds right. I remember Milt Bergman had them on his first Mod in '70's.
I like sound of 4500. But can a tractor get enough front end weight if using tractor OEM rear?
On a Case IH 895, yes you can.

I think you missed the point , Doug says a John Deere cast tractor won't compete with a international tractor at a light weight. Looks to me like that cast chassis worked well.
And that cast chassis of Kurt and Jacob Kesler still works VERY well and the power plant in that chassis does NOT have an overhead cam. The reason it works so well is that THEY HAVE DONE THEIR HOME WORK!

It shows that Doug is absolutely correct that if 2 tractors both weigh the same (6400 lbs) and there is a 200 lb difference in front axle weights, the one with less weight is at a disadvantage; about 450 llbs which is 3.3% of the 13,000 vs 13,500 lbs total weight on the rear tires. His proposed 200 lbs change does overshoot a bit though because those 200 lbs do add directly to the weight on the r

I think it will help the class. It favors some brands now and is running off some brands. What's wrong with everyone having a level playing field. Especially when the one brand is the most recognized of all brands.
Is that one brand something "special"?

I have read the rules and for the most part, I think they are good rules. The only one that I don't agree with is the 470 cubic inch rule. In my opinion(which no one asked for and I am ok with that), because you are allowing that many cubic inches, some will always want more in the future. The cubic inches at 505 is one thing that has hurt the lss class that I pull in.

Doesnt it make more sense to get another roller and roll the starting line as soon as sled leaves so that when sled comes back to start line they can go ahead and hook next tractor to sled and be ready to go. Instead they were having one roller and two scraper tractors working track and that one roller have to do it all. I think another rolled speed up getting next tractor hooked

I always use good ol' grease if it's going to sit very long. It will attract dust, but so will oil. I don't get real crazy with it, just enough to cover the bare metal. Then get some visqueen plastic and wrap it up the best you can. I have a crank that has been in my shop for 3 years now and still free of rust. I have tube heaters in my shop. Your floor heat is probably better.

With the noise levels we are around, I'd guess a number of people in the sport have developed tinnitus.
Informal survey here-
1) What does it sound like to you (ring, buzz, click; high\low frequency, etc)?
2) What treatments\remedies have worked best for you?
3) How long have you had tinnitus, and do you feel pulling was a cause or contributing factor?

Lewis, in my 23 years of pulling, I have never asked for more weight. And for anyone that wants more weight in a class that they want to pull in, then they need to go to a different class.

All that component has done is give other brands an opportunity to compete in the LSS. Ford and John Deere where the only tractors that could get a big motor and still have moveable weight. Now if you go to a good LSS show you will see an IH, John Deere, Ford, AC and Case and all competitive.
Yeah and at what weight?

Curious on the thoughts and opinions, is an electromotive ignition system is legal in the LLSS class? I would think it would be but wanted to verify before purchasing. Also what are other alcohol tractors running for their ignition?
So when will this tractor be out?

If NTPA does this in the alcohol class how will they compete at a PPL pull? There aren't that many Supers left to divide up. I wish Outlaws had a heavy unlimited super stock class. I am from Missouri so we don't get to see them often .
They won't be able to compete at all unless ppl allows them to. And my guess is that ppl will allow them to.
