A good payout at any pull is something that no one will agree on this forum. I don't care if it's a brush pull or a sanctioned pull. None of you will ever agree on the payout.

In the past 3 years I've been to around 90 pulls and only 6 of them had no seats left..At most places the crowds just keep getting smaller and smaller and if it wasnt for good sponsors, money would have been lost at quite a few events...These days people just arent interested in motorsports of any kind..You could let them in free and they wouldnt come..At several state level

The real issue here is, people just don’t go to events like they used to. Whether it be pulling , drag racing, nascar, or Saturday night tracks. The internet has changed the world and it ain’t going back. People has so many more options now days, and one of them is sitting on their phone. I watch some of the drag racing from the 70’s- 80’s and it amazes me how packed the stands were! N

I believe that high fuel prices will most certainly limit many pullers travel radius.
Dick, I can say as a competitor there is not really 1 thing in particular that drives us to the desire to compete in tractor pulling. Certainly the camaraderie with other people with the same interests we have, definitely the family and friends aspect ranks really high, our competitive nature,

60k plus buyers premium for a tractor that dosent run and is way outdated, needing over 200k to be back at the top, hopefully the buyer realized that the pump is no good and it needs a lot of work.
Well maybe the buyer is ok with all of that. And maybe the buyer doesn't expect to be on top immediately either. just saying.

HP, i really wasn't talking about NTPA factoring anyone in particular, i was more refering to about pullers complaining about another puller working an finding horsepower an then gripping to NTPA an when NTPA didn't do anything, they ( NTPA) lost some pullers.
No offense ?, but what was NTPA supposed to do? A domination rule is hard to enforce when a competitor builds a vehicle

Do you know how many times in that 20+ years the NTPA executive board have factored a pulling vehicle?

None.
Thanks HP. I was going to ask that question as I didn't think it ever had been.

Why all the hate and negativity? You’re all just a bunch of complainers. The Unlimited Mod class doesn’t have a HP problem. Just leave them alone. I mean sure they one-wheel way too often. Sure the class is one of the most inconsistent classes regarding show quality. Sure even the guys that love the class imply that it has problems but won’t actually admit to them but are

I've hooked some USA in the past, great organization, great people, usually good tracks. The down fall of this club is purse. $300 to win a major class is terrible. They are way behind on payouts. I would come to this event but at $5 diesel and such small purse it is wise to stay home. Save the tractor for points events. Get with the times USA. The cost to build and maint

Glenn, the next time we are at the same pull, you may look at mine. It is some type of special paint/coating that has grit in it. The man that painted it son works for Nic. We will find out what it's called and get back to you. It helps with rocks hitting the under side and damaging the finish on the topside. Clark

One easy solution is to set the full pull mark back like Louisville used to do. There are videos of Lville from the 1970s and 80s that show exactly that.
If a full pull places the tires in the sand, set the mark 10-20 feet back. Problem solved except for either sled malfunction or monster run with too much ground speed.
I agree with that 200+%. What happens though w

Putting together an alky 301 ac llss on a budget, can I use diesel pistons cut down to give me a 10:1 compression ratio or should I spend the money for forged pistons?
To answer your question, you can probably do that. I did that on a 301 IH lss and ran them for years with out a problem. But if you could get a set of forged aluminum ones at a reasonable price like Robert has post

Thanks. Just was concerned going down to six weights since it isn't a spring assist pressure plate. Everything is good and fairly new and have a good leverage made pedal so that isnt it either. We started out with 10 weights and couldn't get to 4 without it engaging. Went to 8 and is pretty consistent at 4500. air gap is maintained at .090

Is it possible that the cross shaft or arm are are flexing? They would be different from your old chassis too.
I don't think so. The cross shaft and fork are both Crower also. BUT it's funny you say that is because the very first thing we found was the bolt that holds the fork to the shaft was broke. So we got that fixed and was told it was ok to weld the 2 together

Just curious about how the chassis change would change engine "LITE" rpms. and or clutch engagement, if it was installed the same and correct, chassis didn't make parts warp, heat did that little amendment.
Because it changed the leverage of the clutch PEDAL when I went to the component chassis a BUNCH in relation to the clutch can vs. the clutch HOUSING on the old cast chassi

All the sand pile hits iv`e seen at indoor pulls this weekend I think this is getting out of hand!! Other than a sled malfunction, no one should be going over a pile of sand at the end of the track!! No reason for it, spectators are not paying for your damage.
I'll agree. It's out of hand and has been for a long time. The last time I pulled at the NFMS 21 years ago, Duane

It loads hard at 4500 no matter how you try to slip it and would like to get to 5. Have 8 weights on each finger 4 on each bolt and thought about going to six. Just don’t want it to slip on the other end. Nothing like the crower we had years ago so not our first time with a slipper clutch. Just thought someone would have some input
