The tractor I am building requires me to start with a Deere 359 because of the class rules. I have replaced the rotary pump with a P-Punp and I'm now moving on to the head. I'm having my head guy sleeve the head so I can get rid of the pencil injectors. I'm completely new to diesel so I'd like a little advice. How many different backing plates on the 359 will work for this application?
I know for a fact the backing plate off a late 4050 will work but what about a 4030? I've heard some people say yes and some people say no.
If anyone has one of these plates available I would defiantly be interested.

If your going to put a 329 or a 359 in a 4010, you will need a backing plate off of a Late John Deere 4050 with a 359 engine. The bell housing bolt pattern are the same on 4010 and 4050. The bell housing bolt pattern on the 3020 and 4030 are the same, but smaller than a 4010. Seems to me you have two choices, 1] use the original 380 cu. in. 4010 engine or 2] try to find a 4050 359 re
