Announcing at the NFMS - 16 years ago
I have one piece of constructive criticism for all announcers, but this also relates to the NFMS: Don’t talk while the tractor is coming up on RPM’s! I love to listen to the turbo spooling up, I love to hear when a tractor goes from the choppy-idle sound to the smooth, ever higher revving, until it finally lights sound. My advice is don’t talk while they are building boost, there are two reasonby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Poll #2-- How do you rate the vehicle selection for the NFMS--
- 16 years ago
I’d give the selection committee a B. I thought there was great variety of new faces mixed in with the regulars. I can think of a few guys that I would have liked to see in a few classes, like Blagraves Red Horse, it probably made the finals more times than anyone except Esdon, but I also enjoyed seeing some different variety in that class. Overall I really thought the committee did a good jby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Poll #3-- How do you rate the 2009 NFMS--

I thought the pull was in the B category until the finals. I thought the sled setting in the Mod and Alcohol super class were both off. We were sitting there in disbelief when they didn’t reset the sled after Purser’s first run, he could have taken the sled back to Oklahoma with him if he wanted. I wasn’t the least bit surprised to see every mod easily go out the end. I know people thinkby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
505-510 Light Pro Stock - 16 years ago
I personally think the US needs a high performance 510 CID single charger diesel class. I think almost every diesel fan would really enjoy a colorful high RPM class here in the US. Bigger isn't always better, Nascar lowered cubes and moved the sport forwards, Indy cars continue to lower cubes and move the sport forwards, NHRA lowered cubes to move the sport forwards. No, no damage, they are hauling most of the tractors out like that now. The tractor ran very well for its first official pass down the track. My fathers photos for Session 2 are all uploaded.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Bill Vories?? - 16 years ago
Horsepower is obviously a huge part of the game, but horsepower is only part of the equation, American Thunder was setup better than any tractor in the class. Both runs were picture perfect, Bill picked one front tire an inch off the ground and the other front tire a few inches and he was off to the races. No wheelie bars, no hooking/unhooking, not even the slightest bobble. I honestly believeby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Griping or Constructive Criticism? - 16 years ago
First, to “red runner” you don’t just “get on the NFMS pull committee and try and make it better”, I wish it was really that easy (I'd sign up tomorrow). The committee members are a very tight-knit and hand-selected group. They are all there for different reasons and it’s not so simple to just be part of the selection process. I’d love to see Butch and Miles do the Farm Show together. Personally I think Butch has a great voice and is a great announcer, his voice has a lot of life and a lot of enthusiasm. Does he have flaws? Sure, everyone does, but I think Butch does a good job. I know people can mock him for “Red!... I’ve got to agree with Eric on this, a Datalogger is pretty cheap insurance that everyone is playing on a level playing field. I don’t think they are expensive either. Factory Support - 16 years ago
I personally think the current rules structure in most national classes is extremely prohibitive to factory support. Almost all factories are turning out 505ish CID tractors and almost all the national classes have rules from 640-680. That’s not a very factory friendly environment. A 505-510 high performance single charger diesel class would be more inline with what the companies currently oby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
