Oliver guy

Why an 1800 rear? I'm just curious why this rear end is a better choice than all the rest. |

The 1800 rear end is about 150 - 175 lbs lighter than a 1850 rear and I would imagine it is similar for a 1855. The 1850 has the bull pinion support rings and the older 1800 does not, but we made mounts for them in the 1800 rear and put them in and never had any issues and we were running a 3208 Cat on alcohol with 3 turbos in the heavy SS for 4 yrs and then as a LSS for 2 years.

the 1855 rear is fine just a little heavy if you want to run 6000 lbs class. My opinion you will be very close on weight you will need all the moveable weight you can get. 1855 rear is a tad stronger than 1800 as mentioned but you wont hurt an 1800 in A 6000 lbs class. |
1750 differences?

How would all of this be different in a 1750 rearend?
What kind of interchangabilty are you looking as as far as ring & pinion, bull gears, etc? |
Re: 6000 pound supers

I really don't know what gears I want to run. I haven't pulled an oliver before, I just want to build an oliver cause you do not see them as much as others. What about the Hercules engine could it be build to contind? |

There were a couple of brothers in Wisconsin that had a dsl super with the herc motor setup to pull the light class, they had it for sale but never heard if it sold. Cody still has his oliver with the cummins in it unless it has been sold recently. I have a couple of chassis for sale would be more than glad to let them go. |

Talk to Shawn Peetz. He ran a 1855 rear on alky in the 6000lb class no problem. He also uses the Herc motor with factory heads. Great guy with alot of info. Think he's selling his rear-end also in the sale section. Good luck |

The Herc motor is a good motor and has been working well for us for quite a few years now. I am Jeff Guza's son. We have Flirtin' with Disaster, the now component AGCO DT160, used to be a White 2-135 with 1650 rearend tractor. With the 1650 rear we ran the herc with twin chargers with 60 pounds of boost intercooled. The new tractor now has 3 chargers and a different intercooler. Weve only got a few passes on it but from the looks of things we shouldn't be too far behind the other tractors in our class once we get the fuel set right. The cast heads work well once they are ported. |

Did you have to do anything to the rear end? Obvioulsly you would need to get diff gears I am assuming. And what about the Military having a surplus of the herc block are them as good as the ag block? What parts do you pull in? |
Re: 6000 pound supers

The 1650 rear was definatly not stock. There was a solid top shaft, a billet 3-spider carrier, with needle bearings all around. Im sure there is a lot more but that is all i can think of now. and we ran an SCS two speed gearbox to a shaft that went into the gearbox in the rearend. Im not so sure about that difference between the ag block and the military block, ill have to ask my dad. But I do know that there are 2 blocks. One is stamped with a TD. and the other is not stamped. If i remember correctly, the TD block is stronger. If you are talking about the motor when you say "what parts do you pull in." We have the usual pulling stuff. Aluminum rods, aluminum pistons, different cam, different rocker arms, oversize valves, etc. I |
