all you need is the part number foer a rod out of a DT 407 out of a 1456.if you cant find i can get it at work for you.let me know Tim

407 big pin rods came from 1456's, early 915 combines, and UDT407 power units. There were probably some construction applications, but I don't know what they were. I'm pretty sure the big pin 407 rods had a 670xxxC1 number cast into them, the small pin 361/407 rods were a 332xxx number. Most C4 casting 407's blocks should have the big pin rods, unless the C4 was a replacement block.

The part number is 670678c91. The rods I have for sale are take outs from a running 1456 and would like $500. I also have a brand new set from IH. I do not see a casting number on either set.

You're right, I remember now the set of big pin rods I have in my 407, none of them have a casting number on them at all. Guess all anyone can do is measure the wrist pin end to be sure.

I've seen these posts about the big pin 407 rods before, what application are they used for? Are they staying in the 361/407 or are they being used in a 400 series (466)? Thanks for any answers.

WE ARE RUNNING SMALL PIN 361/ 407 ROD IN OUR 640 SUPER FARM WITH GOOD ROD BOLTS. YES IN A 400 SERIES BLOCK LONGER ROD SAME BRG BEEFIER ROD.

Depends. I put a set in my 407 so I could use a bigger piston w/ a 1.625" wristpin. Other guys like them in their 400 series, simply because they're longer. A big pin 407 rod & a 400 series rod have the same rod journal size, and the same wristpin size, but the 407 rod is a 1/2" longer.
