Wanting to move up to the light pro class with a high rpm engine similar to what they run in Europe, At what rpms will aftermarket rods become necessary . Thinking about a blue one with 4.625 bore and 5.2 stroke. What size wrist pin would be adequate. Just how many rpms do they run in Europe, they sure sound like a lot on the videos

We run 1.5" wrist pins in our billet rods on Snoopy.
That is with a billet CDS sigma and 4.5" turbo with intercooler.
We have practiced when oem hardened rods will fail , and that will happen at 6500rpm+
Ours went out at 7000+ rpm and it is basicly the rod lenght that is the problem , not the rod itself.
Last year we have had a transmission breakage and a engine that went up to 9000rpm
without kicking out anything , it was still running fine.(with billet rods 1" longer as STD)
So the 1.5' pins is big enough and are weightwise the best option.

I have seen the Snoopy tractor run on youtube. It is awesome!

Thanks Edward, Thats what I needed to know. At those rpms do you need to go anything to the crank ?

The cranck was a big problem aswel , we had a 5.2 crack fully counterweighed but at high rpm
the welded on weights came loose.
Since 2008 we have a billet cranck which works out perfect.

Just curious why the longer rods are better. I would have thought the short rods would have held the high rpm's better.
Also why the counterwieghted crankshaft ? more torque??

Too add to the questions. Building a 540 Light Pro to run NTPA. Will be using a 8.3 cummins. What would you all suggest for a final drive ratio?
