Are there any pulls that are around the Des Moines area for "farm stock" tractors? More specifically, 6030: still has PTO and Hyd, 20.8's and pressed wheels, 3X4 charger, pretty hot runner, used to running 3000-open RPM's (no water or int.). Obviously not a farm tractor, but we do still mow and chop stalks (on occasion) with it just for fun. Really looking for brush pulls to go and have fun, used to pretty lax brush leage rules. Everything I have been seeing is pretty much sanctioned roll cage stuff w/ a C.I. limit.

Heartland pullers (htpa.biz) are a good group. Not sure of the turbo rules in the big classes, but I know they have some 6030's running with them. Biggest rules are make weight, and keep your RPM's under 3000.

If you hooked a manure spreader to it you could pull the 6030 in IL and WI, but to far away. Have fun and good luck.

Not sure I follow???

I run occasionally with hearltand but that would be a good drive from Des Moines, there used to be a north central or something like that up in that area. Ran with them a couple times and they seemed to have something for everyone. The sled wasn't the best but they did not have superfarms anyway. I am sure the towns that they used to pull will have their own deals I would just keep your eyes peeled for flyers.

What do you have on it for safety equipment?

Re: Moving to Iowa April 06, 2011 06:21AM
I have a John Deere "Roll Guard" on there...it's got a steel flywheel in it, and I could buy a scatter blanket, seatbelt, and fire extinguisher if need be, there aren't any wheelie bars on it, still has a PTO and Hydraulics, wheetland covers for the rock shafts and no 3pt. (obviously)...just want to run where "stock appearing" cuts it for rules... Are there any small town pulls that have a 13 or even 11 and 12 open? where "farm" tractors can compete without some sanctioning body and a ton of rules to follow (that change every year for that matter)?

There are farm stock classes in northern Iowa, but don't run 3000 rpm with 3x4 turbo. Yours doesn't sound like it is FARM STOCK. Put all your safety equipment on and run the 10500 and the 11000 in the 3000 rpm class. So far there is not a cubic inch limit. Hope you find some pulls. And welcome to Iowa.

Re: Moving to Iowa April 07, 2011 01:58AM
That is what I want to do...however, every 10500, 11000, or even 12000 has a 650ci limit. Where are these pulls that have "no cube limits and 3000 rpm's?" I would gladly put on a scatter blanket and shields...yada yada. Apparently 13000 open isn't called "farm stock" west of the Mississippi, not trying to get into a litteral out of the field class, but don't want to have to build a tractor around a dynamic set of perpetually changing rules either...

Unfortunately Heartland has limits on cubes in the open speed classes. But in the 10 mph classes they do not. I guess they figure speed is a good equalizer.

The pulls that I'm talking about mostly, are north of HWY 3. Some are even in Minnesota. Try the Iowa Falls area. I don't know who to contact, but they pull a 3000 rpm class. I don't know the weights. But I do know that the 3x4 turbo won't fly.

What are you running for cubic inch?

Re: Moving to Iowa April 12, 2011 05:24AM
HOW CLOSE TO DES MOINES ARE YOU LOOKING?
IM NEAR SIOUX CITY. I PUT ON A PULL, AND MY COUSIN DOES AS WELL
BOTH HAVE 3000 RPM CLASSES. NO CUBE LIMIT. 20.8 UNCUT TIRES. SHIELDS. WHEELIE BARS. THATS IT ON THE REGULATIONS
