How much horsepower does everyone feel a 11 in 3 disc crower(pedal) will hold? Or what has been your personal experience? I think we are at the upper limits but we never got enough free travel for the fingers to know for sure. Many have told us to just get a 3 or 4 disc 12.5 in clutch and be done with it. I know long term that is the best answer. I am a tight arse so haven't completely given up on the 3 disc 11.

Thanks

I had one one on a 466 with a Garrett GT-42 and got along OK. I built a 540 (also with the GT-42) and then needed to split the tractor to take out shims about every 6 runs. That got old fast so I went to the 3 disc12.5" and have had no further problems. A lot depends on how much weight your can put on the fingers and how many rpms you are running. I found that many of these set-ups were meant for gas motor apps. Lots of differance on how that clutch behaves between 3000 rpms and 8000rpms.

If its a 12 stand put some bronze floaters in it and you should be fine.
If its a 6 stand when you get over 2000hp or 2000tq then you better be getting it out of there.
In my opinion.

A clutch transfers torque and not horsepower. So the answer could only be given if you add info about the rpm you run it with.
if it holds 500 hp at 2000 rpm it will hold 1500 at 6000 rpm....

Just guessing here but 800-900 hp at approximately 3000 rpm. This is on a JD 4020. Stock trans running 7 th gear worked fine. Eighth gear is a huge jump (also have 4010 finals and 42 in rubber) and it did not hold.

Thanks
