mounting exhaust pipe to hood February 10, 2012 02:26PM
wanting to mount my pipe right to my hood, because have a tilt hood, wondering how you weld flange to pipe w/o discoloring and making pipe look bad, just wondering how guys do this and make it look nice, and what or how you make flange, have seen them but never paid close attention to them. a few picts. would be great if poss. thanks

If you attach it from the underside of the hood, by welding a flange around the pipe, the welds would be farther away from the surface. That way it would keep any discoloring away from the surface. I have welded some chrome before and by making welds about 1/2 inch long, about every inch or inch and a half the chrome had a very small amount of discoloring
