you need a mcv to operate a ta

Re: ta lube 66 series March 17, 2012 08:01AM
so as long as u boost pressure the mcv will hold even when ur running open rpm?

You can run as much as 425-450 psi on a mcv, have had many tell me more is possible but we have yet to achieve anything greater without blowing out the gasket, As for it being possible to run a t/a without a mcv, it is very much possible, go to the for sale page find 'Chad' he has guillotines and couple other items for sale, he has built/run a tractor for at least 2 seasons with allids 8 disk t/a that he supplies with an external system running somewhere in the 700psi range which seem to work really well. I’ve also been told that it is a pluming NIGHTMARE......... hope this helps best of luck

We're setting up an 8 disc allied TA and are having trouble getting our pressure correct. We have shimmed the two springs with four shims and can only get to about 315psi. Five shims gets us to 425, but the pressure jumps around like its starting to bind the springs and we're afraid that much more than 425 will blow the gaskets. We are told if you go to five shims you risk coil binding the springs and jumping the pressure to 600 psi or more. I think we're looking for a sweet spot of 375 to 400 psi. How do we get there in the MCV. We have a new pump also.

Check out the for sale page, seen a mcv setup with a pressure regulator on it sounds like a good set up that is ready to go.

Call Allied with a description of your problem and I believe they will recommend a different spring. There was a thread discussing this problem on here some time ago.
