Question about a decubed LLSS December 13, 2012 09:51AM
Has any one had sucess decubing a IH DT414 to 360 cubic inches for a LLSS class? I was wondering about destroking the engine?. Would this be a better option than reducing the bore size. LLSS rules I was looking at had a 360ci limit for alky. Just thinking about different options.

Why not just start out with a DT360 and be done with it? Too simple?

I have heard of other decubed Alky engines. I already have a ported 400 series head. I am thinking the 400 series would have a better flowing head than the Dt 360! Just exploring options

Head flow would be the big question. I do not know the #differences between the two

IH DT 360 3.875 bore Ag block 4.01 bore truck block IH 400 series 4.3 bore very simple math

DT 360, HMMM Lighter, shorter block but just about the same strength as the 414-466. Seems a simple decision.

We have both styles running here in KY, and one is just as good as the other. But, I would personally go with the 360 if building an IH. But if I were like you and already had a good 400 series head I would go that route.

Eric
Do you know if those 400 series were de stroked or smaller pistons?

The Ih 414's running in ky are de-stroked, they work well at 370, but like eric said with all the combos running around, its hard to say what works better then others. With the 3X4 charger limit it seems like 370ci is 370ci. But i would be happy to help you out ir answer any questions about the de stroked 414 if you have any questions.
