what is a safe valve to piston clearance for a non turbo diesel that wont turn any harder than 2500rpm

I am putting together my minneapolis moline d585 in my G1355 for a N/A puller that will run 10% over stock and checking valve to piston clearance as i have a custom cam ground, now i know it was close stock because it hit in with a stock cam when the key in the crank got slop in it . I know that .120 is for a gas v-8 that will turn a lot of rpm but that seems like a ton for this |

For limited RPM class motors Valve piston clearance of .050 for the intake and .080 for the exhaust is very safe. Proper valve spring pressures are essential. If you need help calculating the clearances call me 715-656-5152 |

curious to know how you can calculate the clearancewith the head off. Can you find the valve lift at tdc by measuring the lifter travel and finding the rocker arm ratio?? |

well i am doing it while i am degreeing my cam, with a dial indacater and every degree just pushing on the valve, with light springs in and reading my dial indacater, now i am making a key to get the cam timming perfect then i will have the pistons fly cut and .050 and 0.80 sound perfect, |
