steel vs aluminum October 11, 2013 03:31AM
I know I've seen this topic on here before but I couldn't find it in the archives. How much weight savings is there in aluminum over steel wheels? How durable are the alum wheels? I've heard stories about them being easy to bend is that true? I'm trying to justify the added expense of alum wheels so any thoughts on pros and cons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Oh forgot to mention it's for a light limited.

Our old Drussel type alum rims are on Uncle Mark's D-21 right now and they weigh 65 lbs/ea.

We put on Whipstation with the reinforcement and they weigh 78 lbs.
